“Our source claims Ohio State is not in the lead for Coleman’s commitment. This source said LSU and Tennessee were pacing the pack. Notre Dame also made “an enormous offer.”

(context: boarding house is where OSUs guys post rumors they aren’t confident enough to report)

Lmao what is this portal cycle.

One in which agents are driving narratives using local / national media as a tool, because college football and media will fall for it. Collectively, we're not use to this kind of thing, but it's existed in professional sports forever. In college football it's largely been the schools driving the narrative for as long as we can remember, the players now have more agency (I mean that in both ways) and are taking it advantage of it to benefit themselves.

FWIW, the Christensen guy from NMSU seems to be pretty excited about his ND offer based on his IG story. Pulling guys from NMSU is probably not what people had in mind going into the portal period, but he seems to have the work ethic you want and was productive last year. He may also have 2 years of eligibility, redshirted in 2024 and NCAA blanket waiver for JUCO kids granting an extra year.

It's hard to believe that our best chance at a serviceable 2-deep DT rotation might be severely overpaying one guy, threatening to sue the NCAA into oblivion for an extra year of Onye and trying to buy Armel Mukam back for probably double what he would have been happy to take last week had ND not low balled him... Then try to lock up Keeley and bump him down inside on passing downs to keep only one of these guys on the field to rush the passer.

NG: Onye
2. Mukam

DT: Addition
2. Hughes
This is gross.. we’ll be gashed all season & God forbid there’s any injuries..

Love it. He’s got the College Football 26 music rocking.

When ISD reported the offer, they said they didn’t expect him to visit.

Per his NMSU bio, he's originally from Sierra Leone and moved to the US his sophomore year of high school. I obviously have no idea what his transcripts look like, but he went to JUCO, then Fresno State for 2 years where he was Academic All-Conference in the MW, then NMSU for a year. He was majoring in Africana Studies, and ND offers that as a program.

On ISD someone mentioned a podcast said he make it too. Matt Freeman was really positive this am.

Glass half full - maybe he’s visiting in case ND admissions don’t work out. Then again how’s that half full

Im pretty confident Graham will want to stay in the Midwest. I still feel good about this one along with Keeley. Not giving up on finding a decent DT, think there are still some irons in the fire that will eventually prove fruitful.

FWIW Ezra Christensen isn't just a body, he was first team C-USA and was on a few "G5 All American" teams. He also had the second highest PFF grade of all FBS DTs.

Tough to find tape on him but he's a Cignetti-esque old guy with production.

I have a heard time believing that the general problem we're having with portal players is not wanting to go to class. But presumably that is something for which ND can compensate a player, just like the weather, or being far away from home, etc.
I know a couple former high level D1 athletes, believe it.

Seeing all the craziness with how these guys are in the portal...I just want to give a shoutout to guys like Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, etc...cause I could only imagine the $$$ that was thrown at them, and how many times they stayed true to themselves. Makes you appreciate our guys even more.

So it wasn't a problem the past three years? Did players in those portal cycles not know that ND students go to class?
How many high level defensive tackles did ND land the last couple of portal cycles?

How many high level defensive tackles did ND land prior to the portal even being a thing?

Given the choice players that fit the defensive tackle profile would rather not go to class.

Going to class has always been a problem for this position group.

Other than Hughes they’ve mostly been 1 year rentals. ND stashed Hartman in a non-degree seeking program. It’s a bit different position for an underclassmen who needs to show progress towards a degree to stay eligible.
