I disagree. Look at the numbers he did with an incompetent QB and team. Give him ND's OL and CJ Carr @ QB .... look out!
He was disappointing this year : but very talented. I’d argue neither of their qb’s are incompetent and average at worst; despite the poor season.

I think we're at the point where Freeman is going to put names on the board to land in the portal and the question will be how much they offer to land them.

We're at the point where academics are basically a non-factor. If the admin wants to play semantics, I guarantee Freeman is going to walk then and there, as he should.
If what happened with Brandyn Hillman was as true as Merck and Bua alleged, he should have quit then and there. And frankly, if no one in the administration got fired for that, then he needs to be way more aggressive in public about it.

That happened in 2023.

The landscape has changed drastically in just 3 years.

Counterpoint: both Fields and Pauling had significant production drops transferring here. The reality is that can be used against us in the receiver transfer portal. No matter how good our QB is, it won’t matter in their eyes if we’re running the ball 400 times a year.

Some intel from MSU’s on3 staff:

just in case it gets lost in the other thread:

Update to the Update: Hearing Notre Dame very much IS in the running for Marsh. And that particular deal IS with UnderArmour. So I'm hearing both ND and Indiana for Marsh, from two different sources. So we'll see. Word on the street is that ND has a lot on the table for him.

I'm hearing that there is little chance that he will come back. One source told me he is 100 percent not coming back, but I won't go that far. But I'm hearing Notre Dame is a possible, if not likely, landing spot for him. I've heard that Michigan made a huge offer to him, but he turned it down.

Marsh was originally supposed to be on campus tomorrow, but he's actually arriving in the evening and will stay through Friday. Then, head to IU for the weekend.

He did come to campus for Freeman's first spring practice (April 9, 2022) but only visited for a few hours. It will be a thorough visit this time around.

About damn time under armour does something for us
If I'm Notre Dame I'm doing everything and anything I can with Under Armour to free up $2 Million annually for 4 additonal, $500,000 NIL deals to give out to top roster players, portal acquisitions or top recruits... Working something out with them that makes financial sense for both of you.

If Notre Dame can give $500k less in Rev Share to 4 players each year because Under Armour covers it, and can reallocate that $2 million in saved funds throughout the roster, that's an incredible retention / refruiting tool.

It’s still Indiana football. They had as much aura as an unpeeled carrot.
The issue for IU is they will need to answer the question of who is going to be throwing him the ball. "We're bringing someone in" isn't as exciting if you can't say who that someone is, and ND just points to #13.

And it should further than that
IU will have at least 30 transfers. Going to be a whole new team and no promises cigs jmu and transfer mercenaries continue to hit

IU is reportedly the leading team for TCU's Josh Hoover.

Now some may snark about TCU's Hoover but few here had heard of Cal's Fernando Mendoza until he showed up at IU.

Didn’t expect him to win the Heisman but Mendoza had plenty of buzz as a NFL prospect after last year

Fitz not doing much to keep guys, losing quality and quantity. Must think he’s going to “win” the portal or maybe that he’s back at Northwestern where you get write off years.

Source is Marsh's mom so I'd say that's pretty airtight, unless he stopped by in South Bend on his way down to Bloomington also.
Probably had to head to IU first since they’ll be heading to the peach bowl later this week.
