It’s a futile exercise to speculate on who he’s referencing, but it would be shocking to me if it was Blair. He was never going to play much this year. Still loads of potential

Nakos says Tech won’t be a factor for Raiola, Hummer reporting Oregon could be.

Would point towards Moore likely entering the draft.

Talk in Cincy is that Sorsby may be bound for Texas Tech…

Would be a real message to UC’s AD about Cincy’s current trajectory, and their place in the Big XII pecking order.

I'm sorry but unless they were truly bad evals (or bad apples, which is another form of bad eval), pushing out talented freshmen by slashing their NIL deals doesn't make a lot of sense.

Someone didn't play much this year? So what. We have a lot of talented sophomores and juniors ahead of them. It SHOULD be hard to get on the field. Let freshmen develop. We're a developmental program. We have to be unless we change our approach to undergrad transfers, and more important we SHOULD be, as a program that preaches "4 for 40" and earning a degree that matters, and prides itself on physical football - which is best played by grown-ass dudes not 18-year-olds.

I can see processing a few kids who clearly aren't cut out for it. But I do hope this is not a larger strategy going forward. We've not been a high-turnover program thus far, and I think we're better off for it.

It’s crazy. I’m not pretending to know what sort of money was being dropped before in McDonalds bags. But I’d imagine a second or third string freshmen or sophomore would have been ecstatic with $50k to play football plus the education.

Now it’s a snub? Wild times…

Sorsby’s girlfriend just announced her commitment to Tech Tech volleyball (from Cincinnati as well)

Well that solves that

That is what I am saying, teams like Texas Tech will ignore it. We will take the haircut.
I wasn't talking about money. The hard cap is the number of players on the roster. Neither us nor Texas Tech can ignore that. And given that we are already at the limit (unless there are some exempt player shenanigans going on), every player we add means there is someone else we have to get rid of.

I call bullshit there’s no way we signed the class we just did and it cost less than 20 million. Zero visits or guys going elsewhere. As far as KVA he shouldn’t be needed until the USC or Miami game whichever comes first. Still 9 months for recovery should be plenty of time with today’s technology.
Still here huh?

I know he wouldn't nor should he BUT just imagine him going out to the Heisman ceremony only to announce he was coming back for one more go since he and his brothers were cheated by E$PN.

Who could we have paid $300k that we’d been already pushing off. You’re not paying Joe Reiff $300k to come to ND I’d hope (respectfully).
I over heard a recently signed member of the class talking to teammates about having a NIL deal with Gatorade.

Not sure how the cap works but that leads me to believe 3rd parties are heavily involved

They’re absolutely involved. A strong 3rd party is Rhoback.

3rd parties are involved but more based on talent. Love got money from brew balance bc he was elite. 3rd string ol ain’t getting that but could get a local dive bar lol. No idea if UA helps here

I’ve seen the NIL numbers for the committed guys. I wonder if there’s an automatic increase once they are enrolled, or if that’s their set amount until they renegotiate?

If you must know I was curious of any Minchey talk and a Florida post linked the Texas Tech site and voila.

That’s the second time you’ve mentioned my good looks, you trying to fuck or what?

I think neither. I think its essentially two different numbers. There is what you get paid to go to a school that covers your first year, and then its up to how you are performing as to how much you get each year from then on.

And there is a reason I think that is not "re-negotiating" and that that is a bad phrasing for what is going on. I believe it was the 247 sports national recruiting podcast that said basically all these guys (beside OL that need a developmental year) are signing one year contracts. So they aren't getting their deal "re-negotiated" down, they're simply signing another contract.

In that sense, the thing Brice said that was brought up earlier might not be out of the ordinary at all and we simply find it alarming because of bad phrasing and lack of insight into the modern process. Sophomores getting 5-10% of what they signed for might be the new norm for highly ranked sophomores who don't break into the rotation right away.

On the II Podcast they mentioned over 17.5 guys leaving early for the draft or transferring. Here is what I think will happen and %.
Love-100% gone to NFL
Price 95% gone to NFL
Jaden Greathouse-50/50 I think staff will ask him to take less money and if he doesn't they go get a portal guy whose better.
Wagner- NFL or leaving for more money 75%, he might wanna get paid and staff is comfortable with the guys behind him.
Chris Terek-75% transfer
Styles Prescod -30% transfer
Gi'Bran Payne 90% transfer
Loghan Thomas-40% transfer
Sneed-50% either leaves for NFL or ND overpayes to bring him back
Karson Hobbs- 80% transfer I just don't see a path for him
Devan Houston-80% transfer
Brenan Vernon-80% transfer
Preston Zinter- 60% transfer
Ben Minich-60% transfer
Peter Jones- 50% transfer
Bodie Kahoun-50% transfer
Taebron Powell-50% transfer
