Anyone else wonder if Bavacqua knew this was going to happen a couple of weeks ago, but has to save face and pretend to be shocked.
I knew the second they bumped Bama after the close Auburn game it was a distinct possibility. When you factor the ACC campaigning for Miami and Bama the bump Bevacqua has a ton of connections and he certainly is no dummy. One would assume if us normies saw this as a possibility, the freakin AD at Notre Dame must've been warned, figured things out ahead of time.
Figure a deal was made that ACC would not be screwed after what happened to FSU and of course they decided Bama was in no matter what a few weeks ago.
If he did see it coming he needed to get ahead of it before the final poll and do a media blitz to make the case for keeping us in the field.

Probably wouldn’t have mattered but it would at least have had a clear goal.

What I mean is maybe they told him that is just how it's gonna be and there is nothing anyone can do about it. If so, hope he got something in return. In his presser, he mentioned that he reached out to the ACC a few weeks ago when they started actively campaigning on twitter, but his convo with the ACC commish will stay private.
Let's be honest, after what just transpired, nothing is necessarily farfetched.

Maybe but I think there was enough uncertainty with the games remaining that it’s pretty unlikely anyone ever had that talk with him.

When I saw Alabama flash on screen at 9 I knew that meant we were cooked because it hit me right then that the process wasn't honest and this had been rigged. The switch up of the rankings the Tuesday prior and the fishy justification, it all just clicked into place. I was angry about it, I'm still angry. But, ultimately, life goes on. Good or bad. "This too shall pass," is the rule of life and we move forward. There is nothing I as an individual can really do about it other than voice my displeasure, but I have to trust that the ND leadership is working to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

In the end, I feel the most of the team as their story will remain unwritten and will go into the great pile of "what if" teams from throughout the ages.

The hate and everything that's all over social media and the non-stop hate campaign waged by ESPN, that kind of shit gives me life. It means we're trending in the right direction.

Pete Bevacqua said the rankings up until the final ones are a "farce." Where I disagree, is that all of the rankings, including (especially?) the final ones are a farce. It's a political process and the CFP is an ESPN invitational tournament. You can't really let that shit get you down.

And if you can't shake it, the feelings of anger or whatever emotions you carry, as Dostoyevsky (is alleged to have) said, "the darker the night, the brighter the stars, the deeper the grief, the closer to God."
Same man. I saw Bama at nine. Swore so loudly in front of my wife and kids. My wife asked me to explain what happened. Which I did, and she had no idea wtf I was talking about. This only shows how dumb this whole thing is!

Ha. IDK how much your wife knows or cares about college football but to be fair, trying to explain all this to a lay person would make anyone sound insane.

I tried with my Michigan fan coworker yesterday. He listened and just said, "you've given this a lot of thought." LOL. Yes, yes I have and I'm still pissed off.

My Penn St. buddy keeps regurgitating all of the major media/ESPN talking points to me. I tried on Sunday and Monday to reason with him. It's beyond hopeless. There's no reasoning with the haters. They are going to buy what ESPN and others are selling because it feeds into their preconceived (and media created) hatred towards us.

Love out rushed Alabama and almost Oklahoma vs FBS this year. 1372 rushing yards versus 1242 for Bama and 1382 for Oklahoma.

Love rushed for 1.5 TDs per game vs FBS while the entire Bama operation averaged 1 rushing TDs per game. 18 vs 12 rushing vs FBS - twelve games each.

Love scored offensive 3 TDs per game vs SEC opponents. Alabama scored 2.8 offensive TDs vs SEC opponents.

Oklahoma rushed for 17 TDs this season, 15 vs FBS opponents while Love shared carries still scoring 18.

In closing- F the fraudulent SEC.

I'm not in the office this week, so I gotta wait a minute before I give my Bama fan co-workers an earful.

I'm champing at the bit. :ROFLMAO:

On top of ND getting the shaft, did you guys see how corrupt the seeding was to protect the SEC and try to gaslight people into thinking they are legit?
Yes, they've basically ensured multiple teams advance to the quarters and guarantee someone in semis. Preseason rankings need to be fixed as well. The SEC had 10 of their 16 teams ranked in preseason poll.

Matt Mitchell is actually hilarious. I follow him. His SEC Roll call comes out every week and always has me rolling.

His comedy is rooted in southern culture and some of it is over my head being from Indiana…but he’s worth a watch.
He sure wasn't.

Not sure how people dealt with the 1993 National Title snub, as I was only three years old, but I am feeling worse as days go by. What sickens me the most is not getting the opportunity to see a healthy Jeremiyah Love in the playoffs. There is no playoff team that we would have feared this year, not one. I can’t imagine what the players are going through mentally. Absolutely sickening.

If so, hope he got some concessions for the future. A Love Heisman trophy would be nice for starters(yeah, I get that is prob not how things work unless it's more corrupt than I thought)...
The problem is what can he really do...when you don't have the leverage at that point you can't really do anything. Their leverage comes from rejecting the bowl bid which harms ESPN and whatever bowl was going to get them which then they go back to ESPN to complain. Additionally, there will be fallout from Vegas. Vegas doesn't like losing money and they got equally conned and will not be ok with that.

Another point is we should of been bringing race into this and leaving out an AA head coach.. or at the very least mentioning how great it is having an AA in the field.. If Freeman was Miami's coach they would of been screaming this.. same with SEC... we need to be doing this every year.. and for sure 1000 next year

There aren't any AA head coaches.. total PR malpractice by ND not bringing this up any chance they got... would of at the very least turned the tempature down and the SEC vs and African American head coach would of been the perfect foil

There were three major things in the public discourse after the BC game:

1) ironically, Head to Head. We argued it mattered most. Guess who argued that it didn’t matter at all?

2) we also argued that we REALLY need a playoff. This was pre BCS, and I think maybe even bowl coalition or even predated that, I don’t remember. But guess who was pro playoff and who wasn’t…

3) rematch talk. The Florida State people really wanted a bowl rematch AFTER the ND game. But then of course immediately changed thier tune after the BC game. The ND fan response was generally, ok, we will win again, while guess who repeated ad nauseum that FSU would wax us next time.

It was a dark month. It felt worse than this, frankly.

It pissed me off for like 20-30 years, lol

It is the seed of my FSU hatred.

Anyone else think Yormark partly took a shot at Notre Dame because he wanted ND to keep being the news item while Utah’s PE story got pushed to the second page?
I think it's more that he knows if this starts the snowball rolling down the mountain to another shift in the CFB landscape, the Big 12 ceases to exist as even a minor factor and be's out of a job.

Really interesting that the UC Investments deal for the entire Big10 is supposed to be, what $2.4 billion, while Utah alone gets $500 million? Something doesn't jibe.
