My perception of Cig is that against teams he feels outgunned by he goes into margin of defeat mitigation mode and loses a lot of his edge he has against teams of equal or lesser talent.

And my thing with CCGs is that these teams want to have their cake and eat it too. They want all of the reward (for Alabama the reward was at a minimum hosting a playoff game, but likely a bye), with none of the risk. They look at it like Texas apparently looked at playing OSU in week 1: the game only truly counts if you win. That's bullshit.
