I fully understand your point, but I also understand Miami's. I would be pissed off too if ND beat Miami and was ranked behind them with both having two losses.
I wouldn't. Good teams can lose to good teams -- that's the entirety of the SEC argument for having multiple teams in the playoff year after year, after all. Good teams can't lose to multiple bad teams and not get slapped for it. Losing to bad teams after beating good ones gets your ranking whacked, and losing late in th calendar is a bigger problem than losing early. Form matters.

That isn't anything new to college football. Acting like it is some novel injustice invented this year to punish Miami is absurd and if I was on the committee I would have put it out through back channels that continuing to be disingenuous about the situation would be looked upon poorly. There's a difference between being a booster for your team and calling the system unfair because you don't like having to lie in the bed you made by losing to two bad teams.

How bitter would you be to lose a home playoff opportunity b/c your coach(es) left?

ND dropping to #10 would be a blessing in disguise if OSU/Indiana goes as expected.

Two weeks ago I was sure we would host, now I am sure we won't but also sure we won't be left out.

Indiana probably needs to lose big in order to drop out of a bye. However...

Committee would be doing Indiana a favor dropping them to #5 to host the last team in at home and get A playoff win.

I am going to assume that Duke has the worst season win loss record in the history of any conference championship game. Totally embarrassing for the ACC.

Unsure if it’s been mentioned yet, but the Sportsbook odds with Bama appearing to be a lock imply that they’re jumping us in the rankings. If so, the 10 seed certainly seems preferable over 9 seed. Assuming of course that OSU really is the team to beat and that they handle IU this week.

The Bama odds make no sense to me if they’re not jumping us this week. I know you can’t be punished for losing a conference champ game but that doesn’t mean you can’t get jumped by BYU who wins their game.

Take it a step further: 10 seed likely opens at Ole Miss or at A&M. 2/3 seeds likely to be B1G loser and the SEC champ winner. Potentially in a spot to be on the opposite side of the bracket of OSU, TT, and maybe Oregon.
I wonder how much of Vegas looking at Bama as a lock has to do with the BYU coaching drama. BYU losing probably locks Bama in no matter if they lose.

That should be reflected in our odds too. I can't make heads or tails of the Bama odds. Makes no sense.

Gonna be hard to avoid two SEC teams playing each other in the 1st round. I always assume they manipulate the matchups to getter better games (they should).

Yeah, tbh I don’t really pay much attention to the odds most of the time. We’ll just have to see what happens tomorrow.

Not questioning the Bama odds being weird but *why* would they jump us after that horrific showing against Auburn? Their resume is no different than it was a week ago. What is the logic people would be extrapolating?
There is no logic. That's why the odds are so confusing.

The logic behind it is if they are in win or lose and BYU wins it would look awful for them to jump ND for the last spot post CCG loss

I believe ND stays above Alabama and the committee put ND above Alabama weeks ago knowing this situation could play out.

If you believe the committee is stupid and now has to pivot from an unforced error, you would point towards A&Ms loss.

We will see tomorrow.

This makes a ton of sense tbh. Awful way for an impartial committee to act, but logical to avoid as much blow back as possible.

I just don’t think the committee would ding us for a team we lost to in our second game by 1 point losing on the road to their blood rivals. And it’s not like Bama won big, they looked shit for long stretches of that game.

I feel like there have been a few stinkers to make the ACC championship game over the years.

Let's say BYU loses and Bama wins. We drop to 10 and Miami at 11. Do we finally get jumped by Miami in that spot?
WHY? That makes no sense since neither team plays. Which team is ahead after tomorrow's CFP poll between ND and Miami should be resolved. How could one leap the other before the final poll???

Just smart to trust Vegas.

You should not feel bad If we lost to louisville and smu. huge difference from atm and miami at miami. Everyone leaves out arkansas and how our win caused a coaching change. we have the best win over them out of all sec teams

I'm not saying don't trust Vegas, I am asking what the logic is to support the change (I.e. what the committee will say)
Have no data but just throwing it out there…does Stanford cause our SOS to drop pretty significantly?

And by the committees own statements cannot happen. They’ve said teams that don’t play in championship weekend can’t change position relative to one another.
