The argument that ND must join a conference rings hollow when several of the teams expected and being pushed for the playoff are not even in their conference championships.
The sport badly needs an NFL rule that prohibits talking to active coaches until their season is over. Which, of course leads to the problem of the academic calendar vs. the football calendar. It's a mess. It’s the same issue as FSU a few years back. This is why I dislike the committee. Regardless of what happens with Kiffin and staff, you cannot punish them despite success for the season.
Deserving of a spot based on the season should still resonate.
If Matthew Stafford got hurt in week 16, the NFL wouldn’t refuse the Rams a playoff spot.
Sounds like he's leaving with Kiffin. If Charlie Weis Jr doesn’t coach in the playoff, you have to seriously consider dropping Ole Miss out IMO
You cannot say Kiffin + a whole offensive staff not coaching doesn’t have a measurable impact.
Agreed. This is also the issue of the expanded playoff. I love that we have a chance with 2 losses to win the natty, but there’s always a metric shit ton of reasons to keep teams out/put teams in.The sport badly needs an NFL rule that prohibits talking to active coaches until their season is over. That train has left....I still think it would be a hilarious Kiffin troll job for all of this to be happening, only to decide to stay at Ole Miss.
Oh it has. But a man can dream! HahaThat train has left....
ND still #9 in the new Coaches Poll.
Thank god it’s a new committee and they only did that because of the teams sitting at the cut line. Alabama at 9-3 had no business making it so the decision to not punish anyone in the conference championship games was an easy decision. This year there are several 10-2 teams worthy and the ACC and Group of 5 “stealing” a bid makes it a hard call. They should. 100% agree. But, the committee didn't punish teams last year for losing in the conference championship games...
Yeah. I don't know that "not docking teams for losing a CCG" is a hard and fast forever rule. Like, if Bama loses next week by multiple scores, why should they get in over us or Miami?Thank god it’s a new committee and they only did that because of the teams sitting at the cut line. Irishffffuckingnegativeabouteverythingallthetime being a degenerate better who slams the line on ND no matter how absurd makes so much sense.
It's been said many times around here, but who would want to be part of these fucked up conferences right now? On the ranking of what's wrong with CFB, the current conference paradigm is pushing for the top seed. The argument that ND must join a conference rings hollow when several of the teams expected and being pushed for the playoff are not even in their conference championships.
It also would be karmic fun to see Bama be the first team out of the CFP for two years in a row, because of different sets of the committee's self-imposed "rules." I've nothing against Bama in particular, but they had their turn.Yeah. I don't know that "not docking teams for losing a CCG" is a hard and fast forever rule. They will certainly consider it, but man Ole Miss may burn this whole thing down if they do it.If Charlie Weis Jr doesn’t coach in the playoff, you have to seriously consider dropping Ole Miss out IMO

Well I did buy a new mattress for Black Friday...but it was for my son whose dog chewed some holes in it lol...no bedwetting hereSo are we wetting mattresses today, or feeling good after looking like a bad ass team for the 10th week in a row ?
Yeah, this right here is how I feel.FPI:
3 ND
7 Miami
16 Okla
Overall Efficiency:
5 ND
7 Miami
13 Okla
Offensive Efficiency:
3 ND
20 Miami
54 Okla
Defensive Efficiency:
4 Okla
6 Miami
8 ND
Ari Wasserman is barking up the wrong tree. His energy should be Miami vs Oklahoma. If you want to honor head to head it should be
8 Miami
9 ND
10 Okla
11 Alabama
So are we wetting mattresses today, or feeling good after looking like a bad ass team for the 10th week in a row ?
I do not foresee that Ole Miss, a second to third tier program in their own conference, has the power to do any such thing if FSU, a far more premier brand, did not 3 years ago. They will certainly consider it, but man Ole Miss may burn this whole thing down if they do it.
It would take some major stones to do, and I would personally be shocked.
The chair basically already gave themselves an out by saying the reason FSU was so strongly impacted, is because Travis didn’t play in the ACC title game.
They don’t have any sample size of how the team plays without Lane and Weis Jr, so they can’t say matter of fact it is a negative.
Eh, I mean they dropped Bama from 4 to 10 for a 2 point loss to OU. Brands do matter and ours is as big as anyone brand. Besides, swapping ND for OU cements us in and I feel like they really want us in, and it's not like it knocks OU out or anything. They aren’t going to have the balls to drop OU /Bama and I doubt the committee does either. Brands matter.
That was such a bullshit decision and the committee should just come out and say we fucked up and won’t do it again with the new format. They will certainly consider it, but man Ole Miss may burn this whole thing down if they do it.
