MF needs to have his GM reach out to LSU AD Ausberry and get some intel on which LSU players will be transferring out knowing Lane is bringing in his own players & coaches.

I get Florida sells it self some but this wouldn’t get me excited as a fan.
Something about UF prevents it from sustained success. It’s like they christened themselves a blue blood after finally winning a natty in ‘96. In reality, they’ve been like most schools where they truly have to get an elite HC to compete in (not just win) the SEC

The SEC hiring cycle including 3 coaches from the same G5 conference is pretty crazy.

Jesus 3 coaching hires within the span of 15 mins is insane lol
It shouldn’t be lost on folks that it’s mostly happening at state-funded schools in state considered “welfare states”. I realize boosters & outside donors typically foot the bill on these big hires but the optics are bad…‘Murica

Would you look at that. It seems like at least some schools are learning to negotiate better contracts

That probably only works if you're hiring a lower level coach, though, right?

Like, a stud P4 HC isn't gonna accept a contract w/o more guaranteed money, I think.

That said, hiring the really good G5 guy is probably the smarter play IMO.

The G5 continues it’s journey to be the farm system for the P4 for both players & coaches. This should accelerate the move to one or two mega conferences and eventually players becoming full-time employees w/ collective bargaining rights & scholastic obligations optional. Grab your popcorn!

What we are about to see might be unprecedented. Rumors from the Ole Miss side are that not only is Lane leaving, but the coaches and players he is taking with him to LSU are opting out of the rest of the season.

We almost got left out for not having a coach.

FSU got screwed over by losing their QB.

Ole Miss might not have a coach, their QB, and a dozen others missing as well.

No, they are not excited, they were all in emotionally on Kiffin but with the below:

I think in the long run UF dodged a bullet here. If Sumrall doesn't work out you cut bait with a low buyout. When Lane crashes out in 3 years at LSU they're gonna be paying his 50M+ buyout on top of Kelly's.

There's just no good way to handle this sort of thing. It was always going to be ugly. He knows he probably can't win a national championship at Ole Miss this year so he wants to give himself the best chance to do so, which would involve taking his players and coaches to LSU. At the same time, who wouldn't want a shot at a Playoff run? Kiffin holds all the leverage right now and he's gonna use it. If I was Ole Miss, I would just let him coach the Playoff

As a Tulane alum, I don’t blame Sumrall for taking that deal. I don’t think he is ready and has largely been a media creation but we will see. Despite 4 straight conference championship games, the program has trended a bit down since Fritz left. Definitely wish Sumrall well and hope Tulane can confidently sell the job now that 2 straight HC have gone on to get paid.

Is it crazy that all these other schools have hired or are the process of hiring their HC’s before PSU? That job has been open the longest. There’s a new name attached to the job every 3 days. I’m curious what the back story is there.
