I brought him up before miami and through A&M, then didn't talk about him much until leading into USC and week after. I haven't spoken about him in about 3 weeks now until the Pitt game. Why, because these are teams that can expose him and cause serious problems for ND until it is fixed. The other 6 teams just didn't have the players or oline to do that. Pitt doesn't have A&M top 2 wrs, or toney, or lemon, but they probably have the next best weapons we've seen outside of those i just mentioned.

I will be the first one (well maybe not first) to give him major credit if he comes out and plays well this weekend. It would be huge.

Our D played so frichan good vs USC but him. People don't appreciate how well the D played because he gave up or was significantly involved in about 200 yds of passing and 45 yards of penalties.

Everyone wants to see the D keep improving, field corner is the big opportunity. Until it's improved, we should be talking about it.
Anybody using "frichan" deserves to be pilloried.

So do you think Gray is going to have a good game this weekend?
The nd homer in me sees the scenario unfold where Pitts oline isn’t as good as Miami, A&M, or usc in pass pro and we get pressure forcing a lot of uncomfortable throws. In this scenario I think he has a good game.

If we don’t get consistent pressure I expect him to give up some plays.

Freeman and ND have went all in to give him time to get things right physically and more importantly mentally. I really thought he gave up a lot effort wise vs usc as he got down on himself. I don’t think he’s been injured, more so banged up but they want to get him right for this Pitt game. I hope it works because I think he has enough ability to be a solid corner, but he has to give 100% effort and focus consistently. Once he gives up a big play or big PI he doesn’t give the same intensity. It was obvious in the A&M game and usc game.

I’m also curious to see if they work Zackery in more to ensure he’s fresh.

I went back through the thread thinking someone was going after Greyhammer for being drunk again or some such,.... color me surprised when it was in fact about an actual player on the Notre Dame football team,.........

I got a similar vibe from Prister’s reaction as well but tend to think he was truly thinking out loud & stopped himself so fans wouldn’t speculate. Don’t forget Traore is coming off a season ending injury so it could’ve been a luxury for him & the staff to rest him.

Just as interesting is that Faraimo got more burn than Sneed did vs Navy despite that being one of Sneed’s better games in 2024. Was there some punishment after the egregious personal foul vs BC or did Faraimo out perform him during Navy week?

Sneed played like crap. He was always behind the play.

I’m very much ok with Zackery starting over Gray at this point, not that it will happen. He’s had a lot of time to not be a liability and it hasn’t happened yet. Did he have a big pick against SC? Yes, but he also was trailing the receiver who was open otherwise.

Golden too for that matter - Devonta can tackle but Golden doesn’t seem like a drop off in coverage.

It’s easier to say that when Zackery didn’t face Miami, A&M or USC. Actually against both Miami & A&M he was on the field for massive plays (Toney TD & Concepcion deep ball) in only 5 snaps. They should probably rotate some if the game snap count gets high, but I thought that all off-season as well.

I agree with this. I appreciate Zackery’s effort, but he doesn’t appear ready to make a play. At least gray will occasionally try to make plays and come through.

I’d be shocked if Zackery is playing over Adams next year

Someone hurt? ML jumped to -485 on drafts kings. Was -390 on Sunday I think

Probably just people bullish on ND. Maybe the general public pays more attention than Narduzzi: don't piss off MFMF or give him bulletin board material.

A stat I just heard on The Independent: ND has not lost as a double digit road favorite since 1997

I wonder if it occurred to Nardumbshit that losing big this weekend to ND not only puts his team behind the 8-ball for the CFP seeding, but the conference as a whole given what has befallen the "mighty" Virginia, Miami, and GaTech squads of late.

No pressure, though, Patty.

We're the better team so I'm not excited about funky weather, especially the wind. But we have played through rough weather this year so the boys won't be surprised.
