So for someone who knows more about college football than me, how can they be talking about navy going to the playoffs if they still have a conference game against army after the playoff selection is in place? Is it possible that navy (or army in a different year) could be selected then lose that game then get taken out of the playoffs? I know it’s unlikely we see a service academy in the playoffs but how would that work if the chips fall that way?

Navy would have to go unbeaten in every game or lose to us closely to even sniff the playoffs

It was mildly discussed last year when Army and Navy were both playing well, and how they could both “potentially beat ND and be undefeated or have 1 loss going into their game, but it wouldn’t matter for playoffs.”
