The bubble is still quite strong in these parts.

I’m not far from Lock Haven. I play a decent amount of golf at Belles Springs.
It’s kinda weird. Some of my diehard PSU friends/family wanted Franklin fired after ucla, some feel bad for him (no idea why haha) and want him to stay. It’s absolutely crazy how fast this whole season has unraveled for them and watching them melt down over it….
Don’t even get me started on some of wish lists of replacements.

Cig is old, but I imagine he is looking for a big time job and validation before it's too late. I actually think he'd strongly consider the PSU job. As someone that is not a fan of PSU, I personally wouldn't like it, but I think it would make sense for both parties.
The other 3 choices seem completely delusional

Penn State wishes they were more like Clemson. Clemson has more national titles, 18 more ACC titles over Penn State's 4 B1G titles. Clemson's been to the playoff more than once, Penn State's only trip was two easy teams before they faced us. Penn State hasn't won a national title since the year I was born, and I'm 43, so most college football fans are too young to remember or they weren't born yet.

I think it's a bit different though. Penn State was anointed at the beginning of the season as the heavy favorite to win it all, this was going to be the year they had everything and James was going to get his flowers. They had the big time QB (Not really), they had one of the best DC's in Knowles, they had the talent around them, etc. Here's hoping James gets fired and Penn State tanks.

Penn State won in 1986 as well. Which you probably didn't notice because you were a toddler.

The Clemson comp feels a little off base, especially when it comes to conference titles, Clemson not sharing a conference with Ohio State and Michigan. But it's striking that they haven't won the Big Ten in almost a decade. Penn State was consistently legitimately good for a lot of the JoePa years, from the 70s into the 2000s. The trouble is they haven't been elite in awhile, but they still have a lot of fans who remember when they were.

They've lost three straight, two to teams a team with championship aspirations has no business losing to. People are just reacting.

He also has a pretty good record and got them to the semifinals last year. I have to think that has garnered him a little wiggle room. We know that Coaches have been known to have a clunker of a season and bounce back.

One could argue that winning the B1G and having a deep run in the playoffs to back up last season is a bigger validation given IU’s FB history compared to PSU.
