Yep. If he is good. His rating isn't that great presently - just from looking him up. If he is no good just go a couple years in the portal.
Jarrad's ratings are likely to shoot up (unless his new school somehow makes him look that bad) - but we was excellent at summer camps (which recruiting services love)

ND should have Carr for 2 maybe 3 years then possibly a transfer QB. It is a none-issue in my opinion.
I agree, non-issue for me. ND needs to develop who they have. Not every transfer QB will be Riley Leonard.

There are a lot of very good transfer QBs that have been very successful... Including OSUs last year...and the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft.
I agree, I don't want to have to go down that road.
The good news is once CJ has been the face of college football for 3 seasons, ND will be able to get any recruit or transfer they want.

Lakeland I believe, is traditionally very good.

Get those takes cookin

That's an understatement since '96 they were usually a top 5 team nationally and they've won about 10 state titles.

Got blown out against a very good Lakeland team tonight.

Last weeks game tape above. I’m ready to start monitoring Auman’s follows for ‘26 QBs.
Physically he has the tools of a quality P4 starter, but the decision making / accuracy on easy stuff has been pretty bad this year from what I’ve seen. I wonder how much his shitty OL / skill players are making him press.

Game was tied 13-13 going into the 4th them 19 unanswered points. They had no answer for the Lakeland QB, JR. Kelin Hendrix who passed and ran for 2TDs.

I still think ND "fans" are bashing him unfairly. His team, especially that Oline, is not very good. Yet, he still manages to play pretty well. I think he will be fine. I dont think he will be stud like Carr, but very few QBs are like that.

I agree. The biggest problem I have with Grubbs is his placement in the recruiting hierarchy. One year after the Irish missed on their top guy and had to pivot, they follow it up with Grubbs. It's going to put a ton of pressure on Jarrad to be in a spot similar to Carr or for one of Grubbs/Hebert to out perform their ranking.

It's never good to bash a player, especially if they're enrolled and doing the right things. Not much better bashing a guy that is committed and still in high school.

That’s the issue I kind of have with taking a guy like Grubbs. Why can’t we get a great player? Why settle for good?

I think he’ll be good, too. Solid. But at least every other year we should be shooting for the very best and settling for a guy like Grubbs if we swing and miss.

Especially when Minchey transfers.

Before Carr our good was better then we ever had before. But with the way Carr is playing going forward I don’t think we will have to settle for good anymore

the immediate problem is Carr is too good and recruits will know they aint beating him out for 3 years

'26 is really the only class that should be effected by Carr. The '25 recruit was already on campus before Carr broke out and even if Carr stays to start 3 years instead of the 2 people think he will, that still only means sitting for one year for the '27 recruit. And it should be easy to sell the idea of sitting one year and then starting as being the successful option considering its what Carr will just have done.

I don't agree. OSU stacks five-star QBs in class after class. Last year St. Clair, year before that Air Noland, not to mention Sayin coming in as an underclassmen (also a five star).

I know ND's offense hasn't been on par with OSU's, but kids don't look at the QB room and say "oh, I'm not starting next year, I'm not going to consider that school." Carr is most likely gone after next year; whoever comes in will most likely redshirt and then be in the mix for their second year on campus.

I'm in agreement with all who say you can't go Hebert to Grubbs. Grubbs is a nice player, and might start at a P5 school some day. I'm still of the opinion ND needed to go big game hunting this year, and we're most likely setting ourselves up for needing a transfer QB after Carr's eligibility runs out or he declares early.

Doesn’t seem to stop other schools
Great point..we always wring our hands about QB recruiting...it definitely doesnt stop other schools from stockpiling talent. I think it has been more of poor HS QB analysis and many have busted vs boomed here...

I do personally think its a moot point, with the transfer portal being what it is and bringing decent QB talent in (Coan, Hartman, Leonard).

It's just wrong to think of him as a "good" player. I want who Denbrock wants because he finds QBs who can play and creates game plans around them. If they aren't looking to recruit over Grubbs, then I'm happy with their choice.

Carr being this good will open the eyes of a lot of QB recruits.

If Carr continues this trajectory, we only have one more season with him next year and he will be a day one draft pick in spring of '27
