Weapons was great. Loved the different perspectives and the little bits of humor mixed in with the darker backstory. The ending was very satisfying as well. The director also directed Barbarian which is also good and started out in The Whitest Kids You Know.

What's the difference between a republican and democrat?

A republican lives a stress free life while the Democrat cries all day and gets offended by EVERYTHING .

Choose your side wisely. 🤣🤣🤣

God, I wish I was edgy and incisive as you. You're a real Tony Hinchcliffe.

Maybe if I work in crying emojis for my own hacky jokes that will be a good start.

I see the "why does everything have to be political" crowd is working their magic in here.

I liked Weapons ok. Probably would've left it feeling excited about the future of the director if this was his first movie. Unfortunately I had already seen Barbarian and I think that was a much better film. Still definitely worth a watch. Crazy seeing the actress who played the wife from Field of Dreams/Uncle Buck's girlfriend in that context.

Also rewatched Phantom Thread recently. Probably would bump that up from an 7 to a 9 on my rewatch. Not sure why it resonated so much more with me this time but it really did. There are lots of movies about men with mommy issues, but it actually feels under-utilized compared to father/son stuff.

Someone needs to add the spice damn it.

So weapons eh?? I started but didn't finish. Perhaps I should give that another try. I wasn't bored or anything....I just started it late and fell asleep like an old man.

great flick tbf, DDL actually did an apprenticeship and learnt how to tailor/design clothes. His method acting stuff is insane.

He did some great films with Jim Sheridan back in the 90's, the Boxer is my fav

I finished Black Bird this week on Apple TV (I bootlegged it). This was phenomenal. If you liked Mindhunter on Netflix, you will also like this. True crime drama about a serial killer who is suspected of killing 21 girls. Only problem is that he won't confess without a little help from another con. Only 5 episodes, so you don't have to make a huge commitment.

Phantom Thread is very underrated. Probably the third best PTA movie after Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood, in my book.

If anyone has kids, or is a kid, I watched Fantastic 4.

I feel like it was basically Marvel‘s version of Transformers 5. Unicron = Galactis, Silver Surfer = Quintesa… instead of fighting over some magical staff, they are fighting over one of the characters babies.

Broke down before Halloween and wanted to watch something new to me. Watch Megan and Megan 2.0.

Megan was okay, some current concepts in it. Megan 2.0 was more an action movie than a horror movie.

Also watched Heretic with Hugh Grant. Can’t recommend any of them.

Predator badlands - such a fun movie. Takes the predator in an entirely different direction. I loved prey, this is nothing like that.

Reviews stating fun movie but it’s disneyfied are accurate. It’s really well done and will be liked by a much broader audience.

It definitely lacks the “bada$$” aspect of the predator that I love though. For that reason I give it a 4/5.

Just watched a B&W 1961 movie titled Five Minutes to Live. Starred Johnny Cash and Vic Tayback. Classic “B” movie from that era. Johnny Cash couldn’t act if his life depended upon it. Lol

Watched Fantastic Four today. Seriously don’t know how anyone thought this movie was great. I rank it lower than Thunderbolts and Superman. It has a lot more elements of previous installments than I expected. It was neither gritty nor humorous. 4.5 out of 10.
