Chelsea 3 - PSG 0. I definitely didnt see that scoreline as a possible outcome. Chelsea may have something brewing there finally. This EPL season is going to be the more competitive at the top than we've seen in the last decade.

I very much disagree. First off Weah and Mckennie weren’t even allowed to play. Club wouldn’t let them due to the CWC. Let’s all remember that before acting like they don’t care.

Pulisic and Robinson for sure needed time off this summer. They both have played 90 minutes just about every game for their club and country for the past two years. Soccer players are literally the only professionals who work year round with maybe a two week vacation. It’s insane if you compare it to other professional leagues.

I in no way judge or vilify them for taking the summer off to not participate in the Gold Cup. I hope it pays off for next summer.
All fair and true points, but it goes back to before the Gold Cup and even prior to Poch's appointment.

Nations League. That's where it really began to fester. Then you had the friendlies prior to the Gold Cup. That was rock bottom.

So kudos to the guys who played in that Gold Cup. Getting to the final, going up 1-0, it all gave us something we hadn't seen for a while. Something positive. And there were guys out there maximizing their ability through effort.

I'm very confused, all those players who you are complaining about were all part of the Nations League squad. Robinson did not play due to injury, but everyone else did.

That's correct. And it was shit.

Apologies for the confusion.

46 players on their squad and a different set of rules they get to follow. I mean, yeah, I'd say it's about time.

The culture around soccer really needs to change as it pertains to players refusing to play unless sold.

Isak could have been the difference for his current employers yesterday. Instead he decided to benefit his preferred employers.

Newcastle is a fucking mess, and not all of that is self inflicted. Paul Mitchell should never have a top flight job again as far as many are concerned, including neutrals outside of Newcastle.

The Isak deal should have been done in June based on everything that has been coming out over the last few weeks. Isak and his agent, in their minds, were led to believe they'd be able to move on at this time going back a year ago. Newcastle could have collected the money at the start of the summer and reinvested it into their squad. Instead, they have been without leadership and now it's coming down to the wire. I'm not sure how you go back from your supporters chanting "One Greedy bastard" about a player and then consider trying to "reintegrate" said player back into the squad.

If Isak ends up staying at Newcastle, he and his agent should have something worked out immediately on September 1st so that he is gone by January 1st. None of this is super complicated

The USMNT is not good. I can't believe they are ranked #15 in the world rankings. To compound the result, Pochettino came out after and said the US team is better than South Korea despite the result.

"Clint Dempsey isn't walking through that door."

What's even more fun on top of all of this is that former USMNT players are calling the current guys out in the media as pundits. It's a complete shit show, on top of being one of the hosts in next year's World Cup, which is also likely going to be a shit show on multiple levels to boot.

The situation seems void of hope, and this is with players competing at some of the highest levels in Europe and landing a guy like Pochettino.

In other news, Big Ange to Forest just seems like an inevitable disaster.

I've known some loopy Greeks in my day, but Forest's owner definitely seems like he's not right in the head.

Imagine freeman getting fired this week after making it to the title game. All because he didn't get along with the new GM and owner. lol

TenHag was just fired by Leverkusen right before the break began. Thats like 3 league games in charge. lol
Ten Hag, Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær all being sacked in the same week was something.

Imagine Kelly, Weis and Willingham all being fired in the same week.

I typed and apparently didn't hit reply (age feebleness?) that in my opinion the #16 world rating (or whatever it is) for the USMNT must have a "political/economic" screwiness to it. I honestly think that there are 15-16 superior soccer teams in Europe alone (maybe more.) Add about seven from SA, and a few from Africa and a few more from the far East, and what are we? In the 30s? 40? We are PLENTY capable losing to "our" own NA teams after all.

As to the midfield: I've been worried that something's happened to Adams. He's not playing up to Adams level, and he has been about the best player we've had in the recent past. I have hopes for Luna. Maybe he can join Adams and McKennie to make some plays there. I've given up on "9"s. We don't seem to have any. Unlike Cack, I'm not impressed with almost anyone in the back line, except maybe Robinson at left back, who has rarely played there for the usmnt recently. . Dest, imo, still doesn't play defense. Richards? Good in the air; erratic on the rest of it.

Very difficult to watch team ..... here comes Japan. How odoriferous is this going to be?

I will withhold judgements until I see the full first team squad. Everything else is difficult to draw conclusions from.

Glad to see a different team yesterday.
Balogun and Pepi are your number 9's. As long as Balogun is healthy and plays like he did the last two games, he should be the starter.
3-4-3 formation worked well. Left some defensive holes, but it certainly provided a dynamic attack.
Will be interesting to see who they put as the attacking mf on the wings. Freeman, Arfsten and Dest could really thrive there. Do you put Robinson in the midfield winger spot or does he play in a defesnive role in the 3-4-3. I wonder how Cardoso fits in. Luna would be a perfect sub in the midfield.
Still have a lot to figure out with midfeild and defense. Is it McKennie and Adams who start centrally? Who do you have besides Richards? Ream looks too old but apparently no one else can play quality defense.
Freese should be the starter from here on out.
