The biggest red flag I’ve ever known was Matt Freeman insisting the players liked that awful 2018 Yankee stadium uni

very Notre Dame-ish decision here by UT, they went with the 20 mil deal with Adidas because Nike only offered them 5.

I think there is no need for all blacks, if we want that effect we can go deep navy with gold is a fine approximation and on brand. We already do kind of do that but the navy could be made darker!

Black uniforms in 2025 screams out of touch Gen X trying to be cool 15-20 years late. Alternate uniforms are fine once in awhile. Notre Dame wearing black, especially in 2025, would be dorky and scream "how do you do, fellow kids?"

Blackout games were a thing when when I was in high school and college. They were kinda cringe then and still would be today. Its *mildly* better if you get the crowd to go along with it. Notre Dame fans are almost uniquely ill suited to color coordinate. I'm not sure I've ever even seen black Notre Dame apparel in a store.

Notre Dame alternate jerseys should be Kelly Green or throwbacks. You want it to look good on TV, and you want the crowd to look good on TV. Black would be awful and look like ass on tv

Uniwatch really railed against any "black for black sake" (BFBS) uniforms during that time period. Black isn't in Notre Dame's color scheme, we should not come out in a black uniform under any circumstance.

aha yeah dont forget also "Gray for Gray Sake" which UT was guilty of also. The "tiretracks" uniform template Adidas used for ND, ASU, UT etc was truly a dark age

At least Tennessee can play into the "Smoky Mountains" motif of it. Didn't hate that one too much. But I genuinely think UA was an improvement over Addidas in what the base uniform looked like and especially the alternate uniforms. I think Tennessee's decision to switch. They aren't really the undisputed 'belle of the ball' like we are with UA, but they're in the top 4 with Texas A&M, Miami, and Nebraska

The Chicago one's I was referring to were these ones:

And nah, those Fenway ones are bad. Just way too much going on and again, the blue numbers on green just ain't it. Didn't look good with the old green jerseys pre-2023 and they didn't with these.

Has anyone here ever provided a rendering for what it could look like? I would think gold numbers (with white trim) and gold helmets with black jerseys and pants. I think it's a fun concept, but agree it's way off brand for Notre Dame. As someone else mentioned, darker blue could look interesting.

To play devil's advocate, white isn't a Notre Dame color yet they went with all whites against SC last year. I liked the look, but only once every few years is fine with me.

The 2012 and the Yankees ones were very bad, but with somewhat unique alternate jerseys every season, they've had a good hit rate. Black would be awful. Anything that's not some form of blue, green, gold, or white should be off the table.
spoken like a life long fan, thank you for your insights good sir and I agree.
