Bowers is the better pure receiver, but he's not a complete TE like Mayer. Bowers had no blocking highlights in his film, which is telling. I hope Mayer winds up on a team that actually uses him as a receiving weapon. He had glowing reviews from critics prior to Bowers for honing all facets of his game and not just being a one trick pony.

I assumed that Mayer has been a lot better blocker than Bowers. From what I can tell Mayer’s blocking grades have been disappointing as he has struggled. Yes he’s done better than Bower’s, but he needs to start doing a better job.
