Need to try to get him to campus as much as possible.

This is going to be one I'll sweat out until the end to be honest. I knew Kirby was going to offer eventually so here's where we find out if Marcus can beat him head to head.

Honestly, I get his dad played at georgia but it feels like a lot of the nfl dads are more level headed

Odd for an Athletic reporter to have the scoop on that. UGA 247 guy said that would be news to him.

Is his return OV to ND planned for next couple weeks I assume?

OVing to UGA today.

Take him off the commit list soon.
Not that it’s anything new for the board to head to the edge of the cliff over news like this…but I’d almost be more worried if he didn’t OV now to UGA. Surely he’s been there dozens of times with his pops. Go check it out, get the legacy treatment, then visit ND again in a few weeks.

If he cancels of modifies his ND plans, then yeah…okay, gnash away.

Per Loy the staff is not worried and was aware

Choose your fighter Mac or Saint, it is likely one is dead on correct. I don’t see the grey area middle as likely.
Singer is saying the same thing…. I’ll beleive it when I see it if ND can hold on to a commit OVing elsewhere

Did NDs approach with committed prospects taking ov's to other schools change when Bowden left, or prior to that?

Maybe it changed when OVs became unlimited and collectives started paying for unofficials and the difference between the two types of visits became miniscule.

But I do think Bowden and MF wanted it. It was the first year which makes sense. But Bowden wants this at USC. Why some have decommitted
The policy makes sense for USC because they need to know where they stand and cant afford to have holes in their class.

When you have a solid roster and you are big game hunting to push you over the top, sometimes you just gotta deal with the drama for the top kids.

It's been a little more nuanced for a while now. It's not written in stone like it used to be. It was easier to enforce when Kelly was shopping down that different aisle. The big boys were rarely after ND's recruits, and when they were, they often got them. Now it's just the price of eating at the big kids table. You'll lose some, but you also can't lose blue chips that you never pursued, either. Better than never trying at all.

It sucked to lose Deuce, but as Mike Frank said, ND could've gone after Bear Bachmeier and sat easy until signing day. I would prefer to go for the gold, and miss out, than just settling for the bronze from the start.

Hopefully after this OV to GA, he still takes his ND OV on the 10th and reaffirms his commitment to his future teammates. Then that sets off a chain reaction to the uncommitted visitors and they just start committing on the spot.

I'm kind of afraid of the timing of this though. He's going there right before 2 huge recruiting weekends for us. We really don't need any bad news to kill our momentum.

Would love to know the staffs theory on this and allowing it and how
Allowing it? What choice do they have? It's a free country. He's not an indentured servant, or even a signed recruit. Kid wants to go spend a weekend in Athens Georgia you're not going to stop him.

More broadly though, when a top early commit gets an offer from an elite program and wants to go check the place out, the staff has two options. Play Hardball McToughguy and say "no visits or else," and you probably lose the kid immediately. Or you say "we want you to make an informed decision, take the visit, and then visit us last," and hope they see the grass isn't really greener. The smart ones will.

But hardball is really a sign of weakness, and I think the current staff is confident enough to take the latter approach in most cases*. You do actually want these guys to choose Notre Dame in the end for the right reasons, not feel forced into a commitment they made early in the process, and then transfer out of soon as they're able. Sometimes we'll lose kids when they take visits, but allowing them is the right move.

*I think what they need to avoid, though, is the Deuce Knight/Dante Moore situation where a recruit is taking lots of visits and stringing us along for months. Especially if they're occupying a slot we can't recruit b/c they're in it. This doesn't appear to be that.

And his dad went there

*if we lose him we will be okay *
