Ok:

- Meeting with Minchey today (NIL, and role moving forward)

- ND is willing to bump his compensation fairly significantly.

- He would prefer to stay, but NIL needs to be in order, and he would like to discuss the concept of packages designed specifically for him, even if he never starts.

- If Minchey were to leave, ND has already looked at potential portal candidates, and back-channeled.

Looking at the big picture, I think it would make the most sense for Minchey to stick around for 1 more year. The worst case he gets an ND degree and is CJ's backup for 1 year and then can transfer with 2 years of eligibility remaining. The best case he gets an ND degree and wins the job in the fall.

This is where I'm at injuries happen he could be one play away from being the guy, he can get his degree make some nice NIL and chances are he is going to play we should be blowing out a lot of teams.

Compensating Minchey well and giving him some run seems like a no brainer to me. The money is there and Denbrock can use him perfectly.

Also no one wants to say it, but Carr was injured last year and he's one more similar fluke away from this being Minchey's show.

Denbrook loves him some QB power in short yardage!

I see Georgia is after this UNC DE as well as an Army one. OSU after the UNC kid as well. I don’t think anyone thinks Beau Atkinson is anything special shows how weak the portal is (so far) yet again. Maybe better than JR, would take Botelho over him for sure

I don't watch UNC football (who does), but statistically Beau Atkinson looks pretty good... on paper.

He feasted on FSU (like Rylie Mills did) and against Virginia. 5.5 of his total 7 sacks came in those two games.

That last bit is key. Nil and the value of the degree are the hooks needed in the portal era.

Yea, its sad because he's a helluva talent but this NIL greed is getting out of hand. He was all set for UNC but UCLA decided to play the NIL game much like Tenn did...I'll be watching this situation

I love out here in SoCal and even when ucla is good (hardly ever) the Rose Bowl doesn’t get half full. Compare that to Rocky Top and this guy fades into oblivion. UCLA is Uscs red headed stepchild out here.

Minchey is shifty and quick but don’t see much push on his part on a direct snap QB run like Leonard or even Buchner would run. I think the change up offense would be better run by Buchner. Didn’t think Buchner was awful. Kind of a better version of Andrew Hendrix. Don’t want him to start but for a play or two here and there I think he brings a different wrinkle.

I think that any snaps Buchner might have taken are going to be given to Minchey. Promises had to have been made in order to keep him from entering the Portal.
