Legit part of me wonders if that was the case. “Oh you’re not going to support me in who I want to hire, then I’ll just promote internally, you live with the results.” After the way it went they have never not ponied up the dough for his desired candidates

- What a hire. We're probably the only team, outside of maybe Texas, that Ja'Juan leaving Penn State would not see a drop off in talent in the RB room. That had to be a huge factor.

- I would also much rather work for Freeman than Franklin. No brainer.

- He has a great opportunity to get a big time 26 back in here to get some snaps early.

- PSU fans are kidding themselves if they think this is a lateral move.

Yeah I don’t get the rush to be like yeah this guy is better than DMC. The only reason he’s a better recruiter is he offers recruiting ability outside of RB. DMC really didn’t.

But we don’t have to make this a Seider > DMC thing at all.

The rush is that people want to feel like we got the better end of the bargain. To me, this is like an equal move and that is a good thing. That is a "home run" (some might say a home run higher), because of who he is replacing. It's hard to truly upgrade from DMC, you hope to just sort of hold serve. I think we did. That's a win. Plus, it hurts PSU so it's a double win.

For sure, but if we're looking purely at their position I think Deland holds up pretty well. It isn't even close to being a "definite" upgrade. Not sure 2008 knows what players he even recruited.
