So many great players in the ND-USC rivalry. What would a combined all-time ND-USC team look like?

It's USC week. So many great games. So many great players for both Notre Dame and USC. Heisman Trophy winners: Paul Hornung, Reggie Bush, Tim Brown, Carson Palmer, etc. So many future NFL greats: Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Jerome Bettis, Troy Polamalu, Joe Theisman, Marcus Allen.....

One of the greatest rivalries in all of college football. Imagine picking a team of all the great players that played in this rivalry. Certainly not an easy task by any means. Well, here it is. Presenting the all-time Notre Dame-USC team:

This might be one of the most disgusting pieces of “journalism” I’ve ever encountered. What’s your encore, making a combined list of Hatfields & McCoys or Capulets & Montagues?

You’re gonna post this kumbaya combined team shit DURING SC week? Dafuq?

Welcome…back…to the board. But…

Blog writer tells you all you need to know when he lists Johnny Lattner as a Notre Dame Quarterback.

Thanks for the welcome back. An All-Hatfields & McCoys lineup? You may be on to something there. Hmmm, closest thing to it:

Somebody needs to call in to the Paul Finebaum show and introduce this as a topic.

For this board, I think this thread would be better suited to recall our fondest memories of this rivalry. The one that jumps to my mind is Stan Smagala recording a pick six in the Coliseum in the ‘88 matchup.

a more modern memory is Zibby’s punt return TD in ‘05. Man that was exhilarating in real time. Alas…

The one time I got to watch the game live was in 1999. Was best remembered as two shitty teams playing in the rain daring the other team to win. I think TE Jabari Holloway recovered a fumble in the end zone for a game winning TD. Had to listen to the end of the game on the radio b/c it was back when Indiana had that crazy time zone change & we didn’t take that into account when booking our flights home.

Honestly, my best memory of this rivalry is the Bush push game. Yeah ND lost but I watched the game at an Irish pub in San Pedro with one of my best friends, his grandpa from Belfast and his uncle from Glasgow. After the game they had full on bagpipes and drums at the apartment complex in SP where the uncle lived
and we got hammered. It was glorious.

Best part of Stan’s pick 6, well I guess second best part, was Frank Stams leveling Rodney Peete after he threw it. In todays game, a flag would definitely have been thrown.

Still in Pedro? ND Gameday bar is Patrick Malloy’s in Hermosa Beach. I couldn’t bring myself to watch that game (stress was too high). Glad I didn’t and still haven’t. Watched some highlights but still makes me sick.

That’s a big penalty today but I loved it!

I’m not. I live in the North Bay Area now.
