There is obscene amounts of cost and waste in federal contracts that do not exist in private industry:When we send $300B their way I'll say you were right. There is a reason DelMarVa is the richest area in our country with so many clamoring to get on the inside. They can't cut enough IMO - I plan on being disappointed.
But the economic boom in Northern Virginia is mainly based on the fact that the entire internet runs through there; DC values are inflated by foreign money and lawyers; Maryland has an extremely high concentration of old money especially among religious demographics that were discriminated against back in the day. The 2-5% of the workforce in Maryland and Virginia that works for the federal government is not what is driving the $$, it's the adjacent businesses and bloated contracts.
