Why would Ewers go to the portal? He’s got plenty of experience. Was projected as a first round pick, though maybe that has changed?
Based on current NFL draft picks.... outside of QBs... here's Kiper's pics for QBs in order

  1. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado. ...
  2. Cam Ward, Miami (Fla.) ...
  3. Jalen Milroe, Alabama. ...
  4. Carson Beck, Georgia (+2) ...
  5. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU (-1) ...
  6. Quinn Ewers, Texas (-1) ...
  7. Drew Allar, Penn State. ...
  8. Kurtis Rourke, Indiana.

It’s not a great year for QBs, is it? Still that feels like second round at worst. I don’t quite get why he’d stay in college unless it’s purely for the payday. In which case he’s probably not a great investment.

Have a hard time believing Ewers would pick us over somewhere more pass happy, but I guess Sam and Riley did 🤷‍♂️

If that is the QB draft class I’m feeling pretty good entering it if I’m Quinn Ewers. Heck, I’m not feeling too bad if I’m Riley Leonard

You take Ewers and figure it out, but he's going pro. He will be a 1st or 2nd round pick.
I don't think some of y'all have been watching Texas football games. He's an absolute head case, is hanging onto his starting job by a thread, and would drive this fan base nuts.

I assume he'll enter the portal because his draft stock has tanked this year and would probably make the same amount of $$ as a third round pick which is about where I'd slot him today.

The 180 this board has done because Carr has a sore elbow 9 months from the first game of the '25 season is wild.

I get it brother... but is Angeli the answer for '25??? Is Minchey?? Carr???? Ewers will be 22 years old, 6'3" and proven....

Just asking - not debating.
You're proving my point my man. We don't know if they are. Because ND hasn't given them the chance to. ND has dipped into the portal for 2 yrs now? For QB. Why? I ask why for 2 reasons. Either they don't believe that the QB roster is up to par. And I fail to see why it wouldn't be. Yove got Minchey. Carr. Jelly. Give these kids a shot to run the offense. Now imma get a bit wild. You have these kids. Submerged in this offense for yrs? And you're not willing to give them a shot to execute said offense? Instead you portal shop for a QB only to have to teach him new terminology? To run said offense for only a yr? Take that opportunity to coach up the guys we got. And we've got talented QBs. I guess what I'm trying to say is. Why would Minch, Jelly, or Carr stick around if they think that they won't get a chance to actually prove themselves.

You're correct. I have a Lil bit of insight. I have a job that I'm on campus a lot. And I can say you're absolutely right. We have a saying back home. "He hard headed" and "who done hear gohn feel"

There are always exceptions and Ewers would be one IMO but unless it's someone like that I don't see them going into the portal for a starting QB. That said I don't see them getting involved with a chase and bidding war. The only way it happens is if Ewers was the one pushing for the ND move.

If such a scenario were to happen Angeli and Minchey are most likely transferring and they will need a 2nd QB transfer to most likely to be 3rd string QB.

I'm just posting Kiper's QB picks for the draft... And there will be other players between them based on need. I'm just posting and asking thoughts...

I keep waiting for the day this Wild West show ends. College football has to do better than this current shit show system.
Don't hold your breath because it's unfortunately not going anywhere until the complete collapse of NCAA sports. I hope I'm wrong but I think recruiting at ND is going to take a massive hit in the next few years as upfront NIL money is going to make it near impossible top 300 talent.

No I'm not... I'm just posting links from Kiper and other pundits that believe the Irish will go to the portal for a QB again.... your point is yours...

I mean has this season not entertained you?
Actually, and I’ve said this before, I watch less and less college football every year. The closer it comes to resembling the NFL the less I enjoy it. I accept I’m in the twilight of my fandom, finding more interest in other passions.

I have been trending this way with season after season of bama or bama east(Georgia) or bama more east (clemson) being bought semi pro teams and everyone else the Washington generals. But this new parity and parody has drawn me back in

I’m genuinely happy for you. To be honest, my flailing interest has lead me to find new passions over the last few years. I added clay shooting and fly fishing to my hobbies.

Ewers doesn't seem like a fit for ND on several levels, even if he would be open to the idea.

I think as much as Denbrock can tailer his offense to fit the talent he has available, he wants a dual threat who can trigger the rpo game and i don't see that athleticism from the Texan.

I’ll be disappointed if they go to the portal for another QB.. the room is healthy, let’s get behind one of Angeli, Carr, Minchey.

The RB room would be filthy if they all stay but the portal will be bananas this year & Price/Williams could be starters in most programs.. and Love isn’t losing his spot.

The OL will be even better.. Spend the money on the DL & WRs.

Nice.
I’d have those plus keep the college football passion.

This I completely understand, though moreso with professional sports — NFL and NBA are nearly unwatchable for me. Part of my interest recently is my to see the Irish win one NC before the whole sport goes to shit — which feels like it’s maybe 5 years down the road. All the complaining aside, my interest in “eat-what-you-kill” sports, like MMA and F1 has really increased. It’s just easier to stomach an athlete winning millions if he actually has to win to get paid.

Right. For all of the ball gargling people are doing about Michigan throwing money around at high school players, all it's going to do is further fuck up the "market". Not to mention what the SEC schools and the rest of the bozos are going to attempt when they go out and try to poach guys like Vanderbilt's QB, etc.

I said it last year with all of the Moore/Bowen/Keeley nonsense. Stay away.

Don't blame ND for not wanting to take part in this hyperbolic nonsense. Bitch away if you feel like it, but I personally hope they continue doing what they're doing and be smart about out. I want no part of it.
But how would we ever compete for a championship?

I hope the Irish roll with what we have ... Angeli, Carr, Minchey, barring we don't lose one of these to the portal. DL is where I would focus on portal-wise w/ Mills and Cross leaving (for added depth if nothing else).

I know Carr scrambled in HS, like all hs QBs it’s seems, but is he mobile enough for what denbrock wants?

If Carr isnt gonna be ready to take over next season. Would you take a Haynes King in the portal over starting Angeli? King is pretty similar to Riley Leonard with maybe a better arm.

i think i would

From what I heard and read is it'll be "big game" hunting or not bother. Not sure King is the guy. Ewers. Sign me the fuck up.
Eventually you require more of the drug to get the same high.
That goes for pot, cocaine, heroine, to 1-n-done portal QBs.

Go Cold turkey, work out the withdrawal, get clean, and work the boys we recruited.
