Pretty good article on 247 today that indicated Hebert was actually ND’s first choice at QB but then went all in on Deuce once Hebert picked Clemson. Pretty interesting on the boomerang effect in this recruitment. I think things may have worked out for the best in the long run. ND now has a player that will be more patient to hone his craft in preparation to compete for the starting role a year or two down the road. He has all the tools.

Not really……it said he has a great relationship with Gino and MF and they spent hours on the phone recently with Blake and his family. It also said Denbrock was a significant factor that wasn’t in the mix back in 2023. One more thing…..apparently Augustine and Long are his teammates and they were instrumental.

I remember he looked like an absolute stud at the ND camp in the summer of 2023, we offered and expected him to be the guy for the class. He then blew up and committed pretty randomly to Clemson. We pivoted to Deuce and Bear after that.

His rankings went from 3 star early in the cycle -> composite 4 star after he blew up (including #66 on On3 at one point --> back down to high 3 / fringe 4 star after missing his Junior year with injury.

Is he going to any AA game? No real chance to prove himself again this late in the cycle.

If you take it as, "they liked him a lot and thought he was gonna commit to ND upon getting offered and then shocked them by picking Clemson" it makes sense.

I want to hear this same thing about WR in the next 14 months.

This is all well and good, but I don't care about the circumstances. I'm glad they got a guy in here who is undoubtedly a four star talent who has seen some adversity and will come in with something to prove. He clearly understands the depth chart in front of him and knows there is already a verbal behind him. All that and he's still flipping into the class.
