Yeah, after 2 games, a MAJOR disappointment! Someone was reporting some "whoppers" talking about him booming the ball for distance and a significant amount of hang time .... geesh!
Lmao that was me.. I was fielding punts at the fantasy camp from him & he was absolutely crushing them.

But let’s remember it was the indoor facility with absolutely no pressure.

Seriously tho, how bad was the media (subsequently us) gaslit about this guy? He's not average. He's a net negative. He's going to be an issue in a game where field position matters at some point.

Everything is like that now unfortunately. Every sports game, tv show, movie, etc. It's either the best or worst thing ever depending on who's saying it. And no one wants their access cut off, so you get so much bs fluff. Was he shanking a bunch we didn't hear about? His first 2 punts shocked me with how terrible they were.

Heard he’s actually Austrian and not Australian. Major recruiting failure. Good thing he’s not returning punts, I’d hate to see what his fair catch signal would look like.
It would be at a 45 degree angle and he would be shouting something I don't understand in German

Went to Ole Miss vs Wake Forest last night and both those punters are really good. Get rid of this Australian fucker and get one of them in the portal next year.

Serious question. Y'all don't have anyone on the soccer team that can punt? God knows... I lived through years of average at best punters at Bama and asked myself how? We let a pretty solid punter get away - to the Irish no doubt - that could have punted the ball from his high school to Bryant Denny.

No, we import our underperforming punters here at Notre Dame.

Hell, we had a guy on the soccer team who's kicking 60 yarders in the NFL now, no one knew he had that in him while he was on campus. Maybe they should just have mandatory tryout for all the soccer players every year, I mean it'd be better NIL money to make the football team so win-win...

Something tells me this guy is gonna figure it out. He doesn't look comfortable back there. When he gains that sense, I think we are gonna see the leg that everyone was gushing about preseason.

Just hope it doesn't bite us in the ass before then.

Yep, you’re correct. My son played goalie but pretty much stopped punting once he reached 12 or so.
Yep all about maintaining possession and setting up your attack from the back. To me the first job should always be net minding but you get to the epl mls level and if you cant kind of be both quarterback and free safety back there then you aren’t starting

Already hurt us vs NIU. We constantly gave them great field position when we should have been flipping the field.

Well we had Brandon Aubrey on campus from 2013-16 and never bothered to get him on the squad. Here it is 2024 and he's the most accurate kicker NFL History thru 50 kicks (96%)!! Go figure🤷

Worst ND punter I have seen.

Meanwhile McFerson has been crushing it at MD, from his bio:

As a Redshirt Sophomore (2024):
  • Named to Ray Guy Award Ray’s 8 List in each of first two weeks
  • Four punts for 194 yards (48.5 avg) with three I-20 and a long of
    63 vs. Michigan State (9/7)
  • Six punts for 269 yards (44.8 avg) with five inside the 20 and a
career long of 64 in Maryland debut vs. UConn (8/31)

I seriously think Jon Sot is my all-time favorite transfer. Certainly has been for the last 3 weeks.
