Not gonna speak for the residents of Aurora, CO but I'd bet my next paycheck they disagree with that sentiment.

I'm also not gonna pain with a broad brush but you need to acknowledge that a gang from Venezuela, all here illegally, took over an entire apartment complex in Colorado. I’m not hand waving but I’ll have the conversation if you are serious about it.

IMO The point is that we need immigrants to do jobs no one else will. They aren’t taking black jobs. They aren’t taking white jobs. They primarily take jobs no one else wants to do and they keep this country moving. They also pay billions in taxes via sales tax and federal wage taxes. H1B1 visas aren’t picking fruit or building track homes and asylum is a real legal issue that could be reformed. I’m ok with that but this is a country built on the refuse of the world landing here and allowing them to choose their own path. It’s kind of our thing you know. Along with nativists being butt hurt about it.

I’m all form the border being secure and immigrants coming through legal means. The point is the borders of this country is too big to be fully secure. It just is. Deal with it. Whatever you think would be big enough is not. And to do it would cost more than the defense budget to build and maintain and staff. I’ll have a conversation on this point alone as long as you want…. There is nothing we could build, staff and maintain, that would completely stop crossings that would not cost trillions and become yet another beaurocratic quagmire you conservatives would complain incessantly about. I care even less. About your personal outrage over one specific crime out of the hundreds of thousands of crimes committed by natural born citizens daily.

The point is that a small number will commit crimes relative to the population just like any other society and their crime rates are lower than natural born citizens.

Do we use federal or state Taxes? What taxes would you approve to do so? What about Canada? Do we have the same thing? Something less? Why? What about drug crossings at ports of entry ? 90% of all fentanyl comes through legal border crossings. Even with all the current top technology and infrastructure present at border crossings 90% of all fentanyl crossing the border still makes it through these fortifications. Let’s go. I’ll have this discussion if you want. I’ll even drill down on the economic impacts related to fully closing the borders and even environmental impacts lol.
