Black players don’t care what color the coach is, they want to win.

We always get the comparisons to Kelly to explain away Freeman’s failures.

I don’t care, nor should anyone, about the last guy. We should care about the standards we have for the program and the guy presently coaching. And this ain’t that.

So we’ll see what the rest of the season brings us. If it brings 9-3 then a discussion is warranted but if it’s 11-1, this won’t matter.

They only gave up 16 points... yes, but nearly 400 yards, 200 on the ground... the DL was getting pushed off the LOS, LBs were taking some bad run fits. They didn't play physical. So many times they would have the RB wrapped up for only a two yard gain, but somehow the dude ended up with 6 or 7 yards.

The defense did not play to the standard that they did last season. I know you are angry and looking to point blame at everything and everyone, but you're off of this one mate.

This don’t cost us the game. The fact that the offense couldn’t score more than 14 is. That’s a huge issue.

FWIW, I haven’t made one post of firing him. But, I will not be patient with regards to my present discontent with him as HC.

Yep, they couldn't get off the field when it mattered. They had opportunities to flip the field and couldn't get stops. They couldn't force turnovers. Did the defense lose the game? No. Did they play well? Also no.

I think you might have watched a different game.

If you think the defense as a whole played well enough, you're mistaken. Sure, a few bad play calls were made, but ND couldn't stop the explosive plays and the slow grind on most of NIUs possessions. The fact that they only gave up 16 points (somehow!) is the only thing to praise here.

Devil's advocate - the defense played as well as they could (I hope at least?) with an offense that was that poor on third-down, couldn't throw the ball, and couldn't effectively use the run game. Too many drives began on short rest. The offense did screw over the defense today, but you still expect, in the very least, for the defense to do their jobs.

You are acting like the recruiting classes are the greatest, we will likely end up somewhere around where kelly's have been yet again
