We had one second half bust but he was too nervous to wait for easy big gain to happen

Flip side… first half nd may have scored on pas to ford that Riley short hoped because A&M busted the coverage

I saw more A&M busts that we missed the nd busts.
We absolutely score if RL connects there.

I really want to give Christian Gray some love here. You know you’re going to be picked on opposite BenMo but he was up to the task. I thought he played well and was impressed with the safety and LB play as well. Sneed was a monster and Bowen made a few nice plays. What a great Sunday boys!

I really need an explanation on why Pendleton on 2 separate occasions let a D lineman blow thru untouched, what protection calls for that?
On one of the them, I think the sack escape and short incomplete to Ford, Leonard changed something at the line due to the defense. I'm just going win the defense winning that play rather than Pendleton completely blowing it.

From today’s Houston Chronicle:

“A battle the Aggies, who trained in the Texas heat throughout August, lost in the fourth quarter. Notre Dame inexplicably appeared to be the better-acclimated and conditioned team, and the Fighting Irish prevailed courtesy of an eight-play, 85-yard drive deep in the fourth quarter against a backpedaling defense.”

One rule change I'd like to see in CFB is to disincentize convenient injuries. I'm not accusing aTm of doing it. But we've all seen guys drop with "cramps" when an offense is turning up the tempo or when there is confusion on defense or whatever.

My proposal is the player has to leave the game until after the following drive.

Example: Colorado's offense was slow getting off the field and the defense was slow getting on the field, NDSU was at the line ready to run a play. Shadeur Sanders sees this and drops with a "cramp." Accordingly, play is stopped and Colorado gets a free timeout and an opportunity to get their defense on the field.

In my proposal, under those circumstances, Sanders would have to miss Colorado's next offensive possession.

If it were a defensive player, he would miss the remainder of the series and the following defensive series.

It could even be discretionary by the officials, taken in context of the situation. But I hate seeing this crap year after year, particularly by defensive players to buy time to stop the offense from running a play.

I completely understand week 1 game, strong defense to allow development time, RL will get better, but I do hope the coaches have a plan for the remainder of the season and make adjustments as needed re: RL and the offense. There is no doubt that RL emits a "we got this" confidence, and he is a big QB who can run downfield when needed, but... As a few have stated here since last night, I don't think this is enough against the GA's, Alabama's and maybe OSUs (still tbd how good they might actually be) of CFB. Having now a number of less-challenging games concerns me, want to see the pressure continue to become better. But specifically want to see this for Leonard. It won't do us any good to go undefeated but not really run away with at least a handful of the remainder of our games. RL or some Irish QB will need to make accurate throws and push the ball down field or a game like this against GA will not have the same outcome, and winning a CFB Championship is what we're aiming for - Right? If RL struggles in a game where we are favored by 14 pts and the victory is on the line, don't be afraid to make a change, and if we are successful in blowing some teams out (I hope this is the case), let's get Angeli and/or Minchey in the game, like TX did with Arch Manning after it was 38-0 with a lot of time left; he got some good reps in yesterday. And this will be invaluable experience for our QB 2 and 3 since Leonard could easily get injured again. We have highly-paid, experienced coaches so I'm sure they are thinking about these things, but I also remember the mentality last year where everyone, including MF, was reluctant to make needed changes even as it was obvious the O/OC/Game plan all were not working. And let's not forgot a strong passing game and high-scoring games that include a lot of passing TDs, will help immensely with our current WR recruiting challenges. Of course, we're going to give Leonard the benefit of the doubt and hope he gets a lot better in the passing game and his progressions (and the WRs help w/ that)... Again, it's only week 1.

Still buzzing. Just a great win. A ranked SEC team on the road, from Texas no less, and they come away with a victory. It's big. It shuts people up, domestically and abroad, for at least a week.

I can't wait to see what this OLine looks like in a month.

Clean up the penalties, find some creative running plays and this is going to be a fun march to the Louisville game. LFG.

Not trying to be a dick but this run-on sentence is hard to follow. I think I get the gist but not sure.

If you could bullet point it for us dumb folks, that’d be awesome.

If everyone has been paying attention, they'd have already known they were there.

When you cut past all of the glass half empty negative bullshit and the middle school recruiting drama, there's real football happening for real in this program. Eventual graduation from the kids' table is a damned good thing.

One last point: the uniforms were beautiful! I'm glad they didn't go to white pants full time like the rumor suggested.
The roadies are my favorite and I’m still smiling. 😊

Did anyone else see how the ESPN college football wrap up crew just shit all over the rest of our schedule, saying it was pretty weak as soon as we won last night. We take on a raked SEC team at their house for week one, come out with a win, and that's all they talk about. RIDICULOUS!!!!!

Yep, it was quite a contrast to how the TV crew pointed out Miami’s schedule (which is weaker than ND’s IMO) and how they are in good shape to make the playoffs rather than saying their schedule was weak.

Just curious. Was Weigman not seeing open receivers or were they as locked up as they looked on tv?
He had some receivers open. He had a terrible game passing, even the Aggie fans were groaning on some of his throws. It'll be a long seaon for them in the SEC if that's what he's going to give them.

FSU, GT, USC, Louisville. It’s not a weak schedule at all. Practically no one plays a real schedule anymore.
