Yea I don't have a good feeling about this. Reporters always say follow recruit's behaviors, not necessarily their words. Well, this decision doesn't suggest he's really committed to building this class. Guess we'll have to wait and see where it goes

Remember Auburn bought Cam Newton and therefore, a NC. So they arent afraid of dropping the bucks.

Of course. But if Auburn will pay him 100K to visit for a weekend (and, I mean, it's flippin' Auburn, how nice could it be?), how much will they pay him to actually attend and play football there?
Paying him $100K to visit might just be the hook. When it's time to look at the details, he might find the Timeshare isn't what the recruiter says it is.

All you saying you wouldn’t visit a school for 100 grand I call bullshit
Part of the issue is the timing of it, it looks terrible perception wise when Michigan just stole a top commit after taking a visit there. Plus with Deuce being the leader of this class, this not only hurts the coaching staff's chances of finding another WR this cycle, but it also sends a bad message to the other commits, "The leader is taking visits, why can't I take a few as well". I'd like to shrug this off and say it's all up to NDs NIL game, but I'm not that confident that this is just about money and if it is, I'm not that confident that Deuce is really bought into the ND culture

I am not sure how true it is or not about the 100K just to visit. Because there’s no way in this modern day and age that a teenager and his parents turn that down. And if got that to visit what is he going to get to commit?

To me better be prepared to find another QB just in case this is true.

Not the same, timing is different, and Deuce's position as the QB/leader of this class is different. Also, as someone else mentioned, this is one recruit compared to dozens of other cases that haven't turned out well. It doesn't ease my mind that one situation turned out differently, the trend tells me this isn't good, and even if he stays committed, this is potentially damaging in other ways

Didn’t Deuce just sign an NIL deal with Leaf and the announcement had him all decked out in ND gear?

Many would also be short sighted and pick the highest bidding school

The issue isn't that he went there for $100k or whatever, it's that if he's picking money now, he'll probably do it in the end. That is ND not landing him.

He could be picking money now so when he gets to Mendoza School of Business he can start investing early and often.

Take the money and run, meant take the money, visit, then run. As if back to South Bend.

Dude is going to sign, play and some will still think he’s flipping.
Knew what you meant (sorry if that wasn’t clear) and totally agree. I was just quoting your post because it made our point to everyone else.

I love Notre Dame way more than Deuce Knight does. I would 100% take that visit for $100k. Any of you saying you wouldn’t are lying to yourself.
If auburn offered you $3M and that was significantly more than NDs guarantee, would you go to Auburn or ND?

Even if you liked ND more, felt like you'd be developed better at ND, and had a better relationship with ND.

How much more guaranteed would you need vs the potential that ND could provide. The problem with Deuce at ND is his earning power significantly rises when/if he becomes starter, if he has to wait a few years, that's a few years of earning power.

Actually going there instead of going to ND is a very different question. Their numbers would have to be way different or I would have to be really struggling financially.

But a no strings attached visit I know I'm saying no to? Easy money. Anyone else want me to visit??

Depends on the financial analysis of the situation that my agent would provide me with.

Auburn's last 5 star QB was Bo Nix who left the program. The most recent NFL pick was Jarret Stidham in 2018.
Hugh Freeze's highest drafted QB? Was Malik Willis in the 3rd round. $5M contract.

If ND can say "we'll give you $5M over the term of your time with ND. That's the same as Hugh Freeze's most successful QB. Plus the degree value is worth xyz per annum on graduation".

You can probably make the financial package much larger than Auburn's.

Unrelated to Deuce, these paid visits are not going to end well.

If I was a booster shelling out $100k for a weekend, my HC had better damn well close the kid. The pressure on these coaches is going to continue to increase and I could see an even shorter shelf life for coaches who dont land top recruits. If a fan base can raise $100k for a visit, how hard would it be to raise $Xm to buy out the HC who hasnt been able to land 5 star kids?

Hopefully Auburn hasn't hired the timeshare salesperson that hooked Koon...

I tell you what, I loved reading this boards for a while before I joined just because of the info and humor, but man o-live some of you get into a meltdown like you're in your first relationship with a girl way back in middle school (does she like me? does she???). DK has been clear it's a business for him and while it's true there's no such thing as a free lunch in finance, Auburn throwing you money to visit with no strings is pretty darn close. Look at the objective facts here he tells the ND staff upfront he's still 100% locked in, his social media has nothing but ND content recently, he's consistently telling media he's locked in to ND, and there's little "movement" in Auburn other than he was there. I agree that if I'm his age any someone is going to pay me to show up while I'm playing a sport where I'm one injury or circumstance away from getting to play again/not guaranteed anything, I'll take that money in high school. This kid seems like he knows what he's doing, he seems savvy and a business type hustler (in a good way) where he's going to make sure he maximizes on his potential across all metrics. He's got a big NIL deal he just signed (while in ND gear), all the other things mentioned about his commitment to ND directly or indirectly, and he sees the value of the ND degree (in my opinion) if the NFL doesn't pan out OR for life after the NFL. Until there's something more than just speculation, let's all focus on the camp, put together a dominant team on the field, have a good season and that'll solidify this class. I think I read somewhere that someone pointed out how some recruits are aware of this and what's put on there, so maybe less jumping off the ledge and let it play out as it will.

(Side Note: DK if you're reading this, please come to ND...don't leave us!)

Ok...back to someone bitching and whining.
