Can Riley Leonard stay healthy this year? CJ Carr didn't look like a freshman at the B&G game, he had a confidence about him like he had been in the program longer than 4 months. I can't see Angeli transferring without his degree and it's his job to lose QB2 to Carr on a short leash.

People talking about highly rated QBs and "when has ND signed a QB like..."

Wimbush is the best comp to Deuce in terms of having a cannon arm and elite athleticism. He's shorter, their games are very different, but he had the *potential* to be a gamebreaker at QB.

If Riley Leonard stays healthy, what you will see is Deuce vs CJ battling for the starting job. Loser probably transfers. Where things will get weird is if Leonard gets hurt and CJ rather than Angeli gets the minutes.
If CJ and Deuce battle
It out next year and the loser transfers ND is gonna be in a world of hurt because I highly doubt Angeli or Minchey stick around to be a backup. So your only scholarship QB is gonna be CJ?

I don’t think it’s fair to ask if Riley can stay healthy.
He isn’t injury prone.
He isn’t Buchner, who rolled his ankle walking down stairs, rolled his ankle walking off the field against VT, and pulled his hamstring running down the sideline.
His ankle/leg got completely buckled by ND.
That was a legit injury and supposedly is completely healed now.

It's unlikely that Deuce would transfer during or before the season if he loses a fall camp battle to CJ. Same with CJ himself if he lost, there is virtually no incentive to pull yourself off the team *in* the season. You'd certainly want to do everything you could with NIL to prevent that, too. But after the season... yeah, if they're both NFL caliber QBs, one of them isn't sticking around.

This is where I'm at. I still think it's highly unlikely Deuce ever starts a game for ND.
Is that because of confidence in Carr?

So in your opinion, is it best to view Deuce as an insurance policy to hedge on Carr busting?

Would this change if Carr is *so good* that it's a forgone conclusion he's leaving after year 3?

In other words, Deuce knows he is starting year 3 (presumably in a very good situation)?

10 years ago, you'd often see guys wait their turn. I just don't really think that happens anymore with insta eligibility. You'd be asking someone to sit for an additional year when they could hypothetically go in the portal and get paid to go to another top tier school and start instantly.

The flip side of this is that he loses nothing by picking ND, because if it doesn't work out he can transfer. In years past, schools would be neg recruiting the competitive situation in the QB room.

There's just a lot of variables ahead of him with experience. It's the Book Effect, once a guy gets in there it's hard to dethrone them.

I think any '25 QB was gonna be up against it.

ND should have enough in NIL to be able to incentivize him to stay.

If cj carr is all that he starts in 25 and is gone after 26… if he’s not all that then deuce has a shot to beat him out in 26, heck maybe 25

Deuce gets worked in more and more both years as we are good enough to blow teams out. If both cj carr and deuce are legit

In my mind the question is what’s deuce mindset, is he clearly starting in 26 or gone? Or is getting pt and clear starter in 27 good enough with major NIL money

I’d like to see cj be backup this year after A&M game, angeli for that one

Do we agree that the best thing for the qb room is we don’t see Carr play this year?
I kinda think the best thing for ND is Carr to be the starter in '25. For that to realistically happen he'd need to play at least some (as a backup) this year. So I'd like to see him, but not with big games on the line.

This is what we need in 2024. A healthy and highly effective Riley Leonard for the entire season. The 2022 Riley Leonard. He is big and can beat you with his arm and legs. From what I gathered, he was the one the staff targeted right when the portal opened. Seems many have forgotten nationally about him, although some mocks have him as 1st rounder next April. His performance @ AM will be intriguing and the football world will be watching.

Maybe the WRs are leaving because Kiffin told them that Deuce was going to flip?
Maybe the kids finally hit up Deuce to see why it hasn't happened yet?

(obviously not what happened, but that would be great)

I saw the kid on Instagram one day. I didn't really get it. The videos aren't funny.
I think the humor at it is sort of fucked up, moreso laughing at the dad who's exploiting his son for internet fame and really setting him up to fail. I don't think there's anything to suggest that his son is actually that good at football and its really cringy seeing his dad feed him answers to say stuff like that. The humor is in the ridiculousness of it all I suppose

🍿 no idea what yall talking about but pretty sure i want to know
Google Baby Gronk, but you can basically just picture a Lavar Ball with a younger kid. And Lavar had a humorous quality to him. This dad doesn’t. It’s pretty cringy.
