Misleading but accurate? That’s hard to do.
I saw that blindside cheap shot that Carter put on Clark recently. There were some people on social media trying to make the case that Clark started it, but the video shows nothing out of the ordinary on her part while the ball is in play. Carter, on the other hand, blatantly hits Clark from behind while the ball isn't even in play. The ball was out of bounds, waiting to be inbounded after the Sky made a bucket. Carter was suspended and removed from two teams prior for behavior issues.

You might like this story -Being in Indy, we see a lot of Fever news. I have no problem with playing her physical in welcoming her to the WNBA, but she has taken a couple of cheap shots recently. For Carter and a few others, I think Barkley hit the nail on the head when he said they were jealous. One of Carters teammates jumped up from the bench and applauded the hit. They should be happy she came along. Teams are now flying charter and the WNBA is getting more coverage and discussion. Revenue is going up which should help salaries. Don't kill the golden goose ladies.
BTW, the refs reviewed the foul by Carter and kept it as a common foul. It wasn't until the Fever complained that the league upgraded it to a flagrant.

I was never a big fan of Brey's. Now I have another reason. I really like how Nembhard handles himself. Kids only going to get better. You might like this story -
I lived a few houses down from the Nembhards (still keep in touch them a bit here and there), but when Andrew was coming onto the scene he was dead set on going to Stanford to the point where it Claude (his Dad) was talking about possibly moving out there. I kept mentioning how he should go to ND and get the best of both worlds. The Nembhard's reached out TO Brey to try and setup a visit. The staff never even got back to them on setting up a potential visit. The #20 prospect was apparently not good enough for them lol. If Shrews was the coach back then I think Andrew goes to ND.
The part where MacAfee refers to Clark as "one white bitch" was sort of the point.
I'm pretty sure he could have been a lot smarter and avoided saying what he said, but he also seems to be one of these people that just skates along regardless of what he says or what gets said on his show.I'm pretty sure Pat was making a statement with that phrasing. He's been very supportive of her, but there are athletes and people in the media that have tried tearing her down or they've belittled her records broken. A lot of it is just jealousy, but some of it is steeped in racism.

Now with that being said, it draws more attention to him. More attention to Clark and thus more attention to the WNBA.
Which in the end I think is probably the point, but the point could've been made in a much different way that ultimately goes unnoticed.
I'm not really one for the shock jock stuff. The sports shows, podcasts, etc. I enjoy are probably boring for the mainstream because they just provide information and insight rather than what MacAfee and others like him are selling.
Not only that, she's been playing well to start the season up until this point. To blow this second chance would be wasteful and stupid.Carter is a head case who got kicked off her first two teams for disciplinary issues and had to go overseas to play for a while as a result.
His support of Caitlin Clark is not the issue.I just happened to be at lunch a bit ago and had noticed some social media people like Jemele were calling out MacAfee for the same comment. I think she was taking his statement quite literally when Pat seemed to be referencing the treatment and "white bitch" comments Clark has been getting on and off the court. He's shown himself to be a Clark supporter, he certainly could have alluded to that bad behavior in a different way, but you're right...he's never been one to really skirt an issue. I think some of these social media warriors missed his point.
Or babes. Like, I get it. You're good to look at, but what do you know about pass rushing or throwing fastballs? No babes. No nerds. Or just work the babes in so I don't have to listen to them.Give me more MacAfees and less Mike Greenbergs. I want my sports jocks to be actual jocks that played the sports and are passionate about them, not journalist majors that are boring and have no frame of reference.
"I'm seeing a lot of things -- players, fans not understanding who I am as a player," Carter said. "You have to understand me as a person, too. And don't just look at one tape and form an opinion about me. I'm truly a passionate person about the game, and I'm genuine. You can ask all my teammates, they've gotten to know me. They know the real Chennedy Carter. So I'm just saying, don't form an opinion off of one little clip. And you didn't even see the whole game and/or the play that led to that."
MacAfee was a punter, bruv.Give me more MacAfees and less Mike Greenbergs. I want my sports jocks to be actual jocks that played the sports and are passionate about them, not journalist majors that are boring and have no frame of reference.
MacAfee was a punter, bruv.
He's also not an actual ESPN employee, as it turns out. They lease the show. A few things ultimately come from this:
1. Popular crude show that panders to a base that ultimately cheers this on over and over again. ESPN and MacAfee likely learn nothing from it.
2. The Caitlin Clark discourse at some point will get stale and won't "sell" any longer. I think we're getting closer to that day. She's good and for that she's polarizing. In most, she can't control how much she gets talked about. All she can do is play ball.
3. I prefer good insight and information to the game I'm watching, and I think you can get that from people who never played the game. Ken Harrelson was a pro baseball player. He was the voice of the White Sox for years and toward the end of his tenure he was absolutely terrible. His passion and frame of reference was telling stories about Yaz while the Sox lost to the Twins. He got so bad that eventually even the people who liked him got tired.
Just a punter. Dude never shied away from contact. lol

Ok. Now he's qualified. That punter could probably kick your ass and mine.
She's everybody's clickbait right now. I feel bad for her in that regard.Yeah, there's some jealousy.
Just sayin'! You said he was just a punter, like he was some kind of limp dick pussy. Legendary kicker Adam Vinatieri played in the league 25 years almost, McAfee's career got shortened to a respectable 8 years after knee problems. Despite the shorter career Pat had nearly twice as many solo tackles as Vinatieri. He didn't avoid hits like a lot of specialists. Not just punter, he did kickoffs and was Emergency QB. Pretty good athlete.Ok. Now he's qualified.
I don’t have any issues with the aggressive play she encounters, just the cheap shots. She’ll have a chance to increase her strength when the seasons over, but she’s going to be a tired puppy since she went straight from Iowa to the WNBA.She's everybody's clickbait right now. From a competitive standpoint, she's driving a lot of attention to the sport and that is good for everyone. With that comes the target on her back. These veterans are going to come right at her, some more aggressively than others it seems. She needs to get stronger and she's going to have to adapt her game to being with pros now.
From a media standpoint, she's going to get used to drive traffic and clicks. There isn't anything she can really do about it. The guys like MacAfee will throw the red meat out until people stop eating. There don't appear to be any signs it will stop since she's one month into her rookie season.
Whatever she does, it's a story and people are going to make it a story to their own benefit.I don’t have any issues with the aggressive play she encounters, just the cheap shots.
