Notre Dame offered 2025 athlete Dalen Penson on Wednesday night. Penson revealed to Blue & Gold why he likes the Irish initally.

Not sure where the Irish see him. He's a HS QB that runs a lot (only 1000 yds passing) and he doesn't play a lot of D... yet.

He did put BenMo in his offer tweet so I'll guess CB but he's a Shaun Terry type talent with the ball so...

He's very fast on film but not a 100m specialist in track (11.12). 110 hurdles & Triple Jump state champ (at 3A)

A get em on campus and figure it out prospect. Will camp at one of the Eval sessions in June. Might visit sooner.

At that Atlanta UA camp I think Matt Freeman said he was top in vertical, shuttle, and broad jump; and he was 2nd in the 40.

This past weekend's Under Armour Atlanta Regional provided excellent context for the 247Sports national scouting team's evaluation process for players from the Peach State and surrounding states. Here's this week's rundown, leading off with those two new four-star 90-rated standouts in the 2025 class.

NEW 4-STAR: DALEN PENSON, 2025 CB​

Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek cornerback Dalen Penson is an elite athlete and a box checker given two-way snaps, track and field markers, and combine testing profile. Debuting with a four-star 90 rating on 247Sports, Penson is quick-footed and comfortable in man coverage, despite spending much of junior campaign working at quarterback. He flashes impressive start-stop ability, and he's not afraid to use his hands or play through hands. On offense, Penson makes people miss with agility and burst. We view him as a potential inside corner who can hang with slot receivers and also help defend the run, given what he put on tape as a junior. He'll need to add plenty of bulk before he’s ready to go, but worth molding for the long haul.

Prister writes a lot but in summary:

was mostly positive and thinks he's just an all around athlete and his ratings will shoot up once he settles at corner back. Not "elite/can't miss" vibes, but definitely a positive pick up in his eyes.

Has added WV,Duke, Tulane, LVille, PSU, MD, USF, GT & UK since ND in Feb.

Multi time state champ in hurdles & triple jump.

I agree. Without any regional heavyweights in the mix = UGa, Bama, Clemson, FSU, UF, TN... ND's in the catbird's seat.

I personally think that if they offer, and they tell him he has the green light, he commits on the spot.

2022: Caught 22 passes for 432 yards and 4 TD.

Very interesting production. I can't help but see this and watch the highlights only to come away with just wanting him on offense and returning kicks on special teams. Joystick video game crazy quick.
