Havent been on much because of the whiny bitches on this board, and I see that they are still in full effect. Heaven forbid they take some low rated players 🙄

Welcome Gordy. I hope you have a successful career at ND.

I don’t consider this a reach
Why
I can’t tell much from the film. None of the film has him playing projected position.

Besides Sevillano who in here is a NT. Besides Hulak who in here is a weak side end/vyper?

Al Washington and Mike Brown are playing checkers when everyone else is playing chess.
I just don’t get why we would take this commitment now. This kid will be available until signing day, in all likelihood. Not a good look in a recruiting world that is optics driven.

We seem be taking an awful lot of lower rated guys earlier in the cycle this year. Doesn’t conform with the widespread belief that we are on another level recruiting wise under
Freeman. We’re around 90 in average recruiting rating, similar to most in the recent past.
What am I missing? Are we going to process a bunch of guys?

What do you mean when you say the recruiting world “optics driven?”

Think he was close to committing to Wisc if no ND offer soon.

Likely not true. Almost all recruits are committed to a certain school at that time. Usually, it's only a handful of the top guys with a few other prospects, whether they are low four-stars or three-stars.

Sulfsted likely would have committed somewhere before his senior season. If the staff truly liked him, and felt they couldn't gain traction with other prospects (ie Wiggins) for whatever reasons, then it does make sense to get their guy now if that option was on the table.

I believe Dixon is a NT.

Because they think he's about to blow up. Ohio State as well as a couple of southern schools visited him recently.

I mean that recruiting in CFP operates like any other industry — talent and the appearance of success tend to attract talent and actual success. These kids are very impressionable and they want to be associated with players who project elite ability, the ability to help them win and get to the league. They don’t want to play with guys who are developmental prospects with high GPAs — even though those guys are fun to pull for as fans.

Good for him. He is probably a big ND fan. Good times for him.

If you watch his film and think of him as a SDE or DT—rather than a WDE—he doesn’t come off as a close call. He has size and speed and plays the game correctly.

I bet they were waiting to see if he’d grow, and he did.

IMO, this is an easy decision and a good get.

Surprised by all the criticism on this pickup. There are definitely much bigger reaches in the past couple classes then this one. If he can put some weight on he has the potential to be a pretty good pickup.
