You can't really be all that surprised. I mean, this is the same generation that thinks Biden is smart, communism is better than capitalism, men can get pregnant, women have penises, anyone who disagrees with them is raping them and being violent, freedom of speech only applies if you speak what they want to hear, and all racism is bad unless it's against Jews. And you're surprised they think a terrorist state is peaceful and cheering them on? Consider who we're talking about here, my friend.
This is what is so surprising. Where did they develop this racism? I never heard my parents talk about Jews. Heck, I didn't know what was a Jewish name and what wasn't until I was about 20.

Article makes some good points. If journalists throw everything in the "far right" category it trivializes the term, and at some point if everything right is "far right" then nothing is far right. It's not much different than people in politics equating everything to Nazis. I mentioned this just recently, but it's gotten to be way overused in the last several years to a point it's almost lost all meaning. The comparison rarely makes a lot of sense anyway. People inevitably try to compare either of our political parties to a German group that committed genocide against an entire religious group and attempted to conqueror the world by force.
