Why is everyone so sure Deland is leaving next year?

It has been in belief for a while with those associated in the program, and shared by insiders, that McCullough has aspirations of being a head coach. He's been an assistant coach for years. In that time, he's been noted as an excellent mentor of young men, the type of person that would make a great head football coach. He is still relatively young (50) and he knows that his future as a coach will be more than just coaching up running backs.

Personally, I see him in the mold of an Autry Denson. Autry was known as a man who approached coaching holistically, who truly embodied in the betterment for young athletes. I don't believe McCullough has done enough to warrant a P5 head coaching gig, but I can see him going down to the 1-AA level like Denson did.

yeah estime runs for 12 yards on first down then you take him out, dont get it.
Or some other the other runs where he danced around, and got a yard or 2 when the other backs hit the hole immediately

Personally Love looked better against Ohio State than Estime I think Love, Payne and Price are gonna be dynamic next year not worried about RB room

If you go back and watch the game, you'll see this is why Big E wasn't getting his normal snaps. He was waiting for a hole to open for most of the game.

Love is not as physical as Estime. But he hits the hole hard because he is so dang fast

I can't believe that, he just had an awesome run for 11 yards.

I'm 99.9% sure Love was in because Parker for some stupid reason wanted a slow run play with dual running backs and that package was with love not estime.

The big issue is not that we didn't execute it perfectly, but why would you run a slow developing run play when you're trying to run out the clock and OSU is 100% selling out against the run, especially since you have been gashing them. I get the play has worked well earlier, but OSU wasn't 100% selling out against the run then, they were playing relatively straight up.

If freeman is truly not worried about play calling and just execution, he's missing the forest for the trees.

So frichan frustrating.

Other RB MVP is composite #156 player FWIW.

Fact that we are actively pursuing other RBs unfortunately tells you what the staff thinks of our current commits.
Are there other RBs? With Simmons off the board I don’t know of any, but I don’t follow recruiting as close as some. .

Interesting that he has follows from some Bama, OU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss staff but we haven’t heard anything there. He’s all ND on his social media.

There's a reason Michigan didn't offer Sauce. There's a reason PSU didn't offer Estime. There's a reason ND didn't offer Ryan Kerrigan or Jessie Bates. I've got 1137 of these isolated incidences archived.
But on the whole, offers say a lot. Too many people get caught up in the outliers.

You'll never hear me say otherwise.... edit begins here... about offers being a strong indicator.

I'll always play the odds and take offers and 5 stars (late in the cycle) over no star/2 star's but there are SO many "outliers" that you can't lean on them. The fact is, EVERY top program misses guys in their footprint.

Most importantly... these back and forth's on tweeter are recent.

James Simon, but he’s very likely going to LSU.
Yeah, Simon (not Simmons lol) to LSU is what I was referring to and I don’t think we’re recruiting anyone else at RB, which was my question. Are we looking at anyone else?

Of course there’s diamonds in the rough, No one offered sauce because he wasn’t highly rated, Penn state was locking up singleton, many said nd should have offered Kerrigan,

I think you’re struggling to comprehend 4 star with bad film vs a player not highly rated and hasnt done much to warrant offer … I mean cmon man

Anderson film is not good, maybe he turns into Jamal Anderson but nothing says he will on film

In light of all you guys mention here, what do you think of this? Gi'Bran Payne should depart Notre Dame football, according to analyst
What he’s saying is if Payne wants to play it shouldn’t be at nd from an ability level. I agree with this, but if Payne wants his degree he absolutely should be allowed to get it while on scholly. His role last year did not benefit nd. Your third down back should be a threat with ability to get some longer first downs, that’s not him and he did not do well in pass pro.

I’m all for him being on the team as a reserve but not a consistent role when all the other backs are healthy.

Just saw this too.

My initial reaction is no. He is experienced and RBs get banged up so at the bare minimum I'd like to keep him around through this year
A few things: 1. A grown man should never say stuff like this on his podcast. 2. If Ford was staying at RB, I wouldn't mind. But if Payne transferred, we are down to 4. One injury away from 3 which is scary imo

I’m totally lost. What podcast said Payne should leave?

I think Payne is a great RB #3, he's a dog in short yardage and runs hard. He never goes backwards. Like a rich man's C'bo Flemister. We're all excited about the true freshman but with Ford moving and Estime gone, there will be plenty to go around.
