I'm kind of thinking at this stage of the portal, anyone good is mostly from the best teams who just played NY6 or CFP games, and if their good and from these top teams, they gonna be asking for a big ole' bag of $$$ and likely out of ND's reach.

I understand why some people don’t think Riley Leonard is that good. But I really don’t get the Will Howard hype. He has a Hartman-level ceiling IMO

https://irishsportsdaily.com/forums/1/topics/92456 — ISD reporting that Auburn/Florida teams to beat for CJ Daniels, presumably because they’re throwing around the biggest bags.
I was really hoping ND would be able to attract him with the OC hire and the other pieces already brought in. I can't imagine going to that Florida team even if the money was more. It's been a dumpster fire.

Also we are already bringing in 2 receivers.. just not going to be as attractive for wideouts with our depth ironically

I highly doubt our depth is scaring any high-end receivers. If they are potential #1s for other teams, they are a potential #1 for us even with the recent additions.

Are there really any wrs in the portal that are locks to start for ND? I don't think mitchell or Collins are locks to start over Thomas/Greathouse/Faison.

Probably not the right thread for this but a few things i'd like to see

- If evans is not fully healthy for the season start I'd like Thomas to be hybrid WR/TE role (he kinda already does that now at times)
- If the above happens I like Collins, Faison, Mitchell as starting wrs at their respective positions with Greathouse first backup somewhat to really any of them
- Hopefully Cam is all that and grows into the position but can provide some spark early even vs A&M
- I just don't expect much out of colzie (hope i'm wrong for good reasons)
- Then you have KK and the true frosh providing whatever they can or nd needs

I'm so over the 27 year old COVID players.
This guy shouldn’t even be eligible for a 6th year. He played in five games (albeit briefly in most of those games) in 2019, then started in each of the past 4 years

So he’s already played 5 years including the COVID year. Why should he get a 6th year if he never redshirted? So dumb. I hope the NCAA denies eligibility

The argument I’ve seen is that he appeared in at least one game just to kneel down and run out the clock. I have no idea if that has merit under the present rules.

I also roll my eyes at guys with a free Covid year also trying to get extra eligibility.

OTOH, all eligibility limitations are vulnerable to a legal challenge based on what we’ve been seeing. It’s a restraint on trade and amateurism doesn’t appear to be a valid benefit. The deregulation of CFB continues apace.

Reminds me of when Bama stomped Tennessee in his last season The Bama defenders kept saying to Hendon Hooker ‘you old as fuck Unc’ lol there is nothing credible about hanging around college football when you are like 23 or 24

Any insight as to why he’s transferring? Seems weird he’d leave his current situation unless he was in danger of losing playing time
Apparently, this year there were about 4-5 Safeties rotating including Jalen Catalon who we've kicked tires on and is an actual GT looking to transfer again also out of TX, but he is / has been prone to injuries. And apparently, a few younger guys emerged as starters and played a lot more by end of season (and of course, Catalon was out injured); and then, they got Andrew Mukuba from Clemson via the TP so I guess he's looking to go somewhere where he can contribute more. Not really sure if getting a good/better $ bag is a factor here or not. See here: Starting safety Jerrin Thompson, two other Texas football players enter transfer portal

Sounds like ND has the inside track on the DB Rod Heard from Northwestern. ISD reporting it’ll be down to Michigan or ND. If he’s being pursued by both ND and Michigan then I have to assume he’s a quality player but I know nothing of Northwestern and their DBs.
