It's 2024 in a few hours and there are members of the public that still believe that full academic scholarship is somehow not only an equal trade off but is fully accessible.

The swill they have fed us all these years and led us to believe is mind boggling. College football was "literally" ruined decades ago.

It’s definitely been a new world since the advent of P5 conference revenue-generating TV contracts. Think about it, we NEVER heard about outrageous coaches’ salaries or the revenue that the schools bring in solely from football tv contracts today back in the 70s/80s.

Now I’m not saying the universities were in the poor house back then but the money coming in post-P5 tv contracts dwarfs anything prior. We as ND fans have been spoiled in that their games have pretty much always been on national TV. Then when they went exclusive w/ NBC for home telecasts in ~1991. The SEC expanded in ~1992 and you saw all the traditionally independent blue bloods join a conference.

The question now is where does CFB go from here? NIL & the Transfer Portal have changed the landscape so next few years will be interesting.

You could very realistically make the argument that ND built college football (Rockne) and destroyed it (NBC deal).

Didn’t know where else to put this, but whats everybody’s thoughts on Charlie Weis Sr calling out James Franklin for his post game?

At a minimum the opt out should pay back their last years tuition. Guys sitting out who are 5th or later round draft choices are a joke. Kudos to guys like Bryce Young who suited up last year and played for his brothers. It’s a character issue. Many players will out their coach, school and teammates ahead of their own Interest. If the school wants them to play so bad long up an insurance policy.

Washington is getting no respect. I posted here in October that Washington was going to win it all. Not backing down from that now.
Big moment of the year was the squeaker at home against ASU. That can’t be a NC team. Worst win of any team in the playoff. Even the USF Bama game or loss of Texas to a lucky Ok. Today will sort things out. If Michigan doesn’t shot the bed again they win it all despite playing practically nobody all year.

This game is being coached like BK is begging them to fire him and pay his buyout or for Jimmy boy to go to the league
