Definitely at a crossroads point with Freeman.

If he doesn't nail this offseason/hires/transfer portal, he's on borrowed time.

theres simply so much stuff for him to troubleshoot right now it would make any normal person's head explode.
Like they need a S+C Coach hired yesterday along with a full staff that person would want with them. Nevermind the QB and other portal situations

Ironically, Stuckey gets credit for Faison but it can be argued that he mishandled that situation more than the others.

Faison had been balling out since training camp and when it was apparent that the kid could play, he should have been getting alot more snaps even sooner than he did.
I give him absolutely NO credit for faison, complete opposite, i think faison is the biggest reason why stuckey should have been fired.

Scout team players aren't getting the attention of the main position coach as much as the rest. Faison crushed it in fall camp, probably was one of our best WRs then by all reports, and he crushes it on the scout team. ONLY reason he moved up was due to additional injuries that forced him in vs Louisville.

I truly believe not playing Faison early is on Stuckey as the position coach. He didn't coach him up to make him good, he walked onto NDs football team good.

Disagree with the timing. For the S&C coach, Balis wasn't hired until January after the 2016 debacle. For WR/OC/whatever, if they're waiting on Shepherd, it won't happen until after tonight's game.

I'd rather MF take his time and get these hires right, but it falls on him to nail it. He won't be here much longer if he doesn't.

yeah but the potential graduate outgoing transfers who are on the fense like Kiser etc they would wanna know quickly who is going to be preparing them through the offseason at ND.

I don’t think the public will ever know the real answer but I’m sure if MF was happy with Chansi’s coaching he’d still be here.
I think it is an indictment of MF to hire a coach who can't coach.

Yep. I saw some a post from someone saying that Rees talked Freeman into bringing on Stuckey. No clue if that's true, but if it is, that's still on Freeman. He could've over-ruled Rees just like he could've told Rees that they needed to bring in a grad transfer QB for the 2022 season.

Could be. But you don't rush the hiring because you might want a guy to stick around his sixth year (or a potential transfer to come in).

He HAS to get this right, as well as the WR/OC role.

the clemson game they only brought him in when it was end of half and too late in the game too. but again is this on stuckey or parker or marcus.

Tim Prister has harsh words about the future of James' football at ND. Said the staff had little faith he'd develop, TIFWIW.

To be clear James' biggest contribution to the football program was providing a soundtrack to a highlight reel of other guys making plays.

Hard to fix not being able to catch the ball vs air. Again, as a comparison, tobias catches it very clean in warmups (better than tyree), and James did NOT.

you have now entered the MF spin zone.
Nah, in this case I believe it. A beat guy said to me on 11/27 "he isn't coordinated" and "he can't stay on his feet lol"... apparently he's a superb athlete but just flat out lacks refined motor skills // ability to run routes at the moment.

Should we maybe stop analyzing Braylon James in the Rico Flores thread, just in case of the rare instance that Rico actually visits the site and misinterprets? Especially considering l read elsewhere that a few players might be visiting the site.

I just came here and didn’t immediately know who you guys were talking about.

(Rico, if you are seeing this, see we’ve got your back and you should stay lolol. But seriously, have faith - ND will find a great WR coach to pair with Riley Leonard).

to clarify - im not saynig its even wrong. just the need for MF (or a staff member) to go on the record about it in order to control the narrative is interesting to say the least.

If this kid still wanted to be on the roster he would be.

Maybe the WR room doesn't want another transfer? Maybe they want one of their guys to get the job?

If Rico was going to leave, I have to believe that after reading this, he’s ready to stay

Well, there we have it. Cue the hysteria.

The bowl game may be tricky but again, ND has freshman coming in, they will grab some upperclassmen from the portal, and will hire a new WR coach.

So this one is puzzling. He spoke glowingly of everything he’s experienced as both a student & athlete at ND this season. It seemed like he really found a home & had bought into everything ND offers. Add to that he led the WR room in snaps as a true freshman. Head scratcher.
