There are some grumblings from Driskell and Singer that the staff isn’t thrilled that the news about Carr came out when it did.

Why? Because the staff was/is courting a possible transfer QB? Heck, we don't need another QB, we need more RB/TE's. We basically run a less creative Navy RUN ONLY offense.

Hearing IB complain about reporting things is always funny to me.
Loy pretty much seems to not give a shit about that which is also funny.

Why would it matter when the news came out?
The only thing that could make sense is the staff is actively seeking a transfer QB and this let's the cat out of the bag that there will be more competition for that spot earlier than they expected. In reality though any possible QB transfer should be more worried about the offense as a whole, play-calling, etc over kid that have never played in a college football game.

I thought Freeman said early this week that they are probably hitting the portal for a QB transfer

Yeah, I'm sure they are. Not sure if they were planning on telling whoever it may be that Carr was coming as soon as he possibly could.
Instead of competition from Steve and Kenny...now add Carr to that mix.

It's silly really though IMO, because I can only assume the level of QB they are looking at in the portal is basically the Day One starter next year barring injury. Just like Hartman this year. Coaches may be talking about a QB competition, but I don't buy it in these QB cases.

OK thanks. This makes more sense. I didn't follow the implication from your first post.

You know given a likely transition year next year, is it crazy not to take a transfer and let the existing QB's rough it out for a year? Yes I realize that is a soph and frosh but hey we likely don't win out next year anyway. The year after, on the other hand ...

Exactly… only other option would be another qb in the class of 24 very late in recruiting process. Freeman said they want another scholarship qb. It’s either a young qb willing to compete and wait or a really good experienced qb that should start next year. Experienced qb option is more likely. Carr coming a month earlier shouldn’t impact that.

Maybe, just maybe CJ Carr = Lightning in a Bottle... Don't screw it up MF!

CJ Carr will never play and ND, no way we start a QB w/o any experience. We need a guy who has been there and played at a high level.

Am I doing this right?

I hope Hartman plays in the bowl game, any additional time Carr can spend with Hartman should benefit him (just like it should for the other 2 QB's).

If ND got rid of Parker I wonder if they would do it before a bowl game.

Not if we win the next two games. We win the bowl game Parker may be here to stay but I would hope MF would at least add a co-OC/proven qb coach like Paul Chryst.

23, 36, and 37 on Rivals, 247, and ESPN. Charles Power had his feelings hurt by CJ. He keeps bumping up some ND players higher than they should be so he can claim it's not anti-ND bias when in reality he just hates CJ for some reason.
That's some serious copium right there. Maybe he's just not high on CJ and it's not a giant cover-up...

If Carr is the real deal, maybe they should just roll with him next season.
One of the II guys, I think Prister, mentioned Carr probably can't play as a freshman. I took it to mean he needs to put on some armor first. However 247 has him at 6'2 195 which is fine. He can put on 10 lbs easy between December and August and be a good weight.
