Four games in during 2016.Didn’t Kelly can BVG mid season?

How many of these fired coordinators we're all on about this week were in their first season on the job?
Most coaches who are fired mid-season in college football are on a hot seat to start the season. They are not canned after five bad games, they are kept on, given one more chance for whatever reason, and it doesn't work out. That's usually clear by now. Fair. That's not our situation.
I am not for keeping Parker after this season - he fell up into the job and it's too big for him - but the current sample size is 10 games (some of which have been fine!). You owe your hire one full season to show what he can do, and future hires are going to see how you treat someone when something goes sideways.
We should part ways with Parker on Monday after Thanksgiving, but letting him work out the season doesn't really hurt anyone. We're not playing for anything meaningful anymore. We have no obvious replacement on staff to try out for a couple of games. Let Parker finish the season with his dignity intact, and pull the trigger then.
Yeah, but come on. Night and day difference. BVG was trash for 1 year plus. Parkers been trash for 4 games.Didn’t Kelly can BVG mid season?
Bvgs D gave everyone false hope dominating Michigan and then Texas next year …no false hope with ParkerYeah, but come on. Night and day difference. BVG was trash for 1 year plus. Parkers been trash for 4 games.
4 games? I think even Parker himself would admit to being worse than that. The only 4 games he didn't lay some sort of egg were the 1st 4. You know, before we started playing defenses with a pulse. I agree BVG vs. Parker is apples to oranges, but neither were/are owed an entire season if their impact is a net-negative. Like many have said - if he was let go today, tomorrow, or during the off-season. Which P5 schools are throwing him a job offer? I'd be surprised if it was even one. Certainly no schools that ND strives to compete with. All we need to know right there.Yeah, but come on. Night and day difference. BVG was trash for 1 year plus. Parkers been trash for 4 games.
If this is true than Jack is the dumbest AD in America. Nobody else wanted this guy. Nobody else is going to want this guy. He only fell upwards into the job in the first place because of penny pinching and incompetence in the coaching search. The most cringeworthy part was Brice saying he has a seven figure buyout which could be prohibitive.
I completely agree. How the hell do you give a guy who no one wanted and was your third option at best a contract with a significant buy out? To me this was always a one year try-out at best. John Brice seems pretty plugged in thoughIf this is true then Jack is the dumbest AD in America. Nobody else wanted this guy. Nobody else is going to want this guy. Listening to Irish illustrated sounded like Parker will be back. The most cringeworthy part was Brice saying he has a seven figure buyout which could be prohibitive. If ND is really that cheap then we have no business even trying to play high level football. We aren’t talking about a jimbo situation here
Like him / Hate him, but Lincoln Riley wasted no time (as far as this season) in firing his close friend, DC Alex Grinch.Brice almost mentioned it's a 3-year contract and spoke on the offensive room being a collaboration.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, or maybe I'm just used to the let down, but I took Brice's words and his tone of voice at face value that he feels Parker is coming back. I hope I'm just interpreting it all wrong.
Freeman hired his buddy and has, imo, been rather defensive of him all season. Does he have the courage to fire a friend?
False. Grinch was shit for him at two stops over 4 years. He wasted time and a generational arm talent.Like him / Hate him, but Lincoln Riley wasted no time in firing his close friend, DC Alex Grinch.
If Parker is actually back next year this fan base will completely turn on MF.Brice also mentioned it's a 3-year contract and spoke on the offensive room being a collaboration.

This.As long as the golden goose is laying eggs there won’t be fundamental changes
Honestly our offense was terrible vs nc state other than maybe 5 or 6 plays. We had 7, 3 and outs. We had 6 vs clemson as a comparison. Both awful.4 games? Only way is it's standard now for OCs so maybe he got a 3 years contract with a $1M buyout. Not insane.N

This 100%The irony in all of this, for me...
When Parker was hired, I, and many others, felt that the roster would make Parker look so good that we'd have a false impression of his abilities as an OC. We assumed Hartman would be great, the OL would gel despite the uncertainties at guard, TE and WR would be an uknown but undoubtedly propped up by the RB room. I assumed the offense would look pretty solid this year despite Parker's inexperience.
Yikes.

Only thing insane is not being willing to pay the buy out and part ways.
The one that knows he outpunted the coverage and will never get another opportunity like this again. What kind of friend would allow his buddy to take the daggers instead of firing him and giving him his huge cash buyout???
True... I was just talking about just this year in general; not waiting until the end of the season to do so. I agree, it was long overdue.False. Grinch was shit for him at two stops over 4 years. He wasted time and a generational arm talent.
He will make a living as a position coach somewhere. I think. The one that knows he outpunted the coverage and will never get another opportunity like this again.
