RB coaches are a dime a dozen not worried about that. MF better have Al next year otherwise the uncertainty around the program will be at an all time high.
And depending on who comes back we could potentially lose as many nine starters on defense. Even if you figure we'll upgrade talent in some spots, that's a lot of experience.

What could’ve been. This was earlier in the year during the search:

John Brice of Football Scoop reported that, per sources, the Fighting Irish have vetted “Utah’s Andy Ludwig, Washington’s Ryan Grubb, Toledo’s Jason Candle, Colorado’s Sean Lewis and at least one other high-level Power Five offensive coordinator.”

EDIT: Buyouts for Ludwig and Grubb seem to be the theme. I assume Sean Lewis would’ve had similar buyout numbers. However for Jason Candle: “A buyout of Candle’s contract would cost a prospective school $750,000, with a $100,000 decrease ever subsequent year, per Rowland.”

You get what you pay for... or in this case, you don't get what you refuse to pay for.

You have to demote Parker immediately, it shouldn’t even be a question or more than a 5 minute thought

Zeke needs to be done

Need to play faison tyree and the 3 rbs more together

Brown needs to be done

These are very easy things to implement

Parker should have never been hired to begin with. Anyone with a pulse knows parker was a failed oc at West Virginia.

Maybe the administration should let the players pick the next oc. Worked out well for them before. One lazy hire after another.

Hot Board:
OC:
Moore (Mizzou)
Lindgren (Oregon st)
Grubb ($$$)
Candle(toledo)
Lewis (Buffs)

RB:(Sadly dont think Deland stays)
Alford
Settle
McGee

Idk about stuckey or te coach if parker getz axed

This isn't practice. Notre Dame is trying to win football games.

Angeli does not give you a better chance to win than Hartman (as bad as he has been). Hartman will be the starter the rest of the way, unless Freeman has a message board moment, at which point he should be immediately fired.

Angeli will get his practice in before whatever shitacular bowl ND goes to, because Hartman will prob sit that out.

Keep Hartman in. Need to win as many games as possible to help recruiting for 2025. Finishing the regular season at 9-3 will put us in a better position than finishing at 8-4 or 7-5.

They're both good enough to win now and they're more active runners.
Can't go into 2024 without knowing what we have in the QB room.

Why would Sam sit out the bowl game? Has he done anything for his resume to think he’s a sure thing for the NFL? IMO he needs as many chances to prove he can make great decisions as possible. His OC has screwed him over big with the play-calling but to others’ point he has missed lots of open looks trying to do much. The NFL is a risk minimizing league, especially for someone with borderline physical traits.

Season is over.
Let's get 2024 prep started.
18 and 8 split reps at QB1 the rest of the way.
This, should win with angeli and or minchey at qb … if you get in a pinch bring Hartman back in. This would be great reps vs 2 average defenses at best

We are trying to win? What makes you think that with our game plans?

Correct, he’s playing the bowl game if he’s good enough to start that is. Meaning if he’s the right person to start

He might not, but, either way, the starters really don't practice until the week of the bowl game, so Angeli and Minchey would get however many practice reps up until then.

I am out on Freeman. This year has been extremely disappointing. One of the least enjoyable seasons since the Weis era.

What I find most frustrating is Freeman’s in game plan/management. He seems to be stuck in mid-2000s football. You brought in Sam Hartman to be a game manager. I would argue the record would be the same with Angeli.

There is going to be a ton of turnover this season with coaches and players. Freeman has shown us very little to feel confident going forward. Admin is partly to blame.

I hope I am wrong and eat my words. I think he is a 3 year coach at ND

Freeman is wayyyyy to “fine” with losing… to be coaching as soft as he is and the team having no energy, it’s just not going to work

He also really can't show them anymore than he has after 6 years. The pop tart bowl isn't gonna change his grade.

You try like hell to win the rest, period.

Going 10-3 is so much better than 9-4 or 8-5.

10 wins is considered a good season by outsiders.

It helps with recruiting & program momentum.

Also, even though it shouldn’t matter for next year, it 100% does.
A team has a MUCH better chance of making the CFP if they are ranked higher versus not.
If two teams finish 10-2, but one started preseason 15th, the other unranked, the one ranked has a much better chance to make the CFP.

ND needs to win out, finish 10-3, ranked probably around 15th final rankings.
Then preseason next year should be ranked 12-17th range, which gives ND a great chance at the CFP.

Always win 10 if you can. Always.

I feel like MF had a moment of clarity yesterday when it comes to our current OC. It was when we’re in two-minute offense and our current OC chose to huddle. The cameras cut to MF and you can clearly see him go “stank face” and mouth “WHAT ARE WE DOING?”

My hope is that provided him the realization that Gerad is in over his head and doesn’t know what the heck he’s doing at this level.

If you're going to choose a coach, who has zero head coaching experience, it is imperative you surround him with veteran/proven coordinators; especially on the offensive side of the ball. Obviously Gerard Parker is not that guy, nor will he ever be.

Moving forward, if Notre Dame continues to put a financial constraint on their current/future coaching salaries, then we are witnessing the ceiling of Notre Dame football as we speak.

Yea but Hartman makes little difference with the offense we’re running … they’ll start him vs wake of course

Sam right now is playing like Sam Darnold seeing ghosts, don’t think it matters who the OC is. Let him start senior day but they need to get the younger QBs some reps.

Our first pass option is NEVER open va good defenses unless it’s quick screen, second option a lot of times is not open too, most yards are ad hoc

Does anyone actually watch the WRs run routes?
Nobody gets open.
Tobias is worthless.
Greathouse can’t get separation.
Tyree is a gimmick receiver, who doesn’t run a full route tree.
Flores actually tries to get open, but he is a possession receiver.
Staes is only effective as the 2nd TE when defenses aren’t paying him any attention.

Stucki hasn’t done a good job with teaching release & routes.

Minchey & Angeli will get massacred trying to get the ball to these receivers.

You might as well delete the transfer qb thread if you bench Sam. What MF must do today is strip playcalling duties from Parker. He is a complete disaster and shows zero ability to get better. There are plenty of ways to scheme guys open with the way opposing defenses are loading up. MF is in no danger of being shitcanned but in reality he is not showing the coaching IQ I was sure he had. I was expecting mistakes but sometimes the complete lack of situational awareness is really confusing. I know he knows football, but damn this is frustrating. This is a 10 win team. Get them there.
