I think Stuckey is one of the best coaches on the team. He said the expectation is that Tobias is a special talent. Either I need to reassess my view of Stuckey or we need to give them some time to get this right.
This, what bothers me is our wrs jogging on routes, and the lack of moves we are doing… don’t like our route concepts

I have been extremely critical of him. Good to see some life today. I think they need to keep trying to go over the top with him. He’s not a crosser and not a short route guy

I think our outside wr route concepts are awful
Doesn’t help that none of them can execute the back shoulder pass. ND media said Tobias couldn’t do it in practice much less the game. Jaden Thomas is the only guy who seems capable but he’s always hurt.

Not over Tyree, I'd have him stay 2nd string behind him. Tyree has been the best receiver this year by a good amount. He's got 417 yards, the next best is Thomas at 251 and Tyree only has 2 more catches. Rico's stats are actually identical to Thomas. Greathouse actually has more catches than Tobias and is tied for most TDs at 3.

Teams almost always pay press against us and our guys are terrible at getting off the jam. Slot gives you a free release and easier to get open.
So does a bunched grouping, but we have always ran with that formation. The number of times vs Louisville/Duke Tobias was almost in a TE spot blocking was alarming.

Tobias has been able to get open and stretch the field he just doesn't have the ability to adjust and make any form of contested catch. Our offense with Rico outside in the first half was not good. Teams somewhat have to respect tobias downfield, there's no respect given to Rico. He should be more of a slot than Tobias IMO. Good hands, knowledge, physical.

I get that they are asking why Sam goes to the slot receiver so much no matter who it is. That's the reason

I’ve never seen a wide receiver with as much talent as him be lazier going after the ball. I am completely out on him. I think he needs to transfer for a change of scenery

There were a lot of people who defended Merriweather when I called him a joke two weeks ago. Hopefully you see the truth now

Any semblance of effort on that play and its pass interference at the least.
Maybe even 6 points.

I always presume that certain balls are farther away than they look on TV, but there's something about Tobias that really makes it hard to see it that way.

He might be a great kid doing his best, but his body language is probably the most negative I've ever seen from a WR. Makes Styles last year look downright eager.

I severely overrated him in August.
Almost everyone did. I remember Jamie U and Flamang talking about 800 yards for him being the expectation. He is atrocious except for allegedly being good at run blocking.

I thought I was too harsh about him after the Duke game. Turns out I was exactly right about him. He needs to be fired into the sun

Preface this by saying i dislike calling out players as i recognize how easy it is to armchair... that being said-

Any player who displays a complete lack effort has no business playing. The fact that he's doing this when the ball is coming to him is unfathomable.... i actually don't recall ever seeing another nd player doing so....
Talent isn't part of the equation when you have that issue. That's coaching.

Competitive spirit was supposed to be a hallmark of Freeman's teams. This lack of spirit shouldn't be rewarded with playing time. It's a quick way to lose the team ...

Completely agree. I feel badly bagging on him, but my god, he has the laziest effort I have ever seen from a wide receiver going after the ball. If I was a coach, I would absolutely lose it on him. I just don’t think the kid has the mental makeup to be a good college receiver
