It would be amazing if liberals promoted books that talk about abstinence as strongly as they protect books about sexual encounters among minors.
I grew up in a working class Pennsylvania town in the late 60s and 70s. If a kid’s dad didn’t have a stash he had a friend whose dad did. Cliches aren’t built out of one-offs, my man.
Nice story. Most people aren’t nearly as Amish or ‘self’righteous.
I’ve not condemned anything. I’m simply stating a fact. The last place the average kid finds the majority of what he/she reads is in the school library. Our high-tech, superficial and voyeuristic society is bombarded by things far more offensive on a daily basis, no matter how diligent the parents are.
This liberal promotes access to any book whether it’s on abstinence or not. I’m certainly not going to go out of my way to try to deny it from someone else.It would be amazing if liberals promoted books that talk about abstinence as strongly as they protect books about sexual encounters among minors.
“All censorships exist to prevent anyone from challenging current conceptions and existing institutions. All progress is initiated by challenging current conceptions, and executed by supplanting existing institutions. Consequently, the first condition of progress is the removal of censorship.” ― George Bernard Shaw, Mrs. Warren's Profession

I find little negative to having access to knowledge or anything that leads to self acceptance and instrospection.
oy vey. If you want to call yourself a Christian but not understand the fundamental tome of your religion by all means go ahead. Im not judging anyone. I believe you will be judged one day but not by me certainly. Conversely why do you think you have the authority to deny/remove/ban a literary piece of work from someone outside of your family unit? Are you an American where this is literally antithetical to personal freedom?
Again you reference one sanitized line. There are hundreds of gross and deviant things in the Bible that Im certain no one wants to read or they skip over in their study or dismiss because it conflicts with what they think is a pure piece of literature. You have already acknowledged that most people dismiss Ezekiel anyway. So why cant you just dismiss these books that have you so upset? You clearly have zero issues skipping over huge chunks of the fundamental canon you live your life off of.
Rabbits have lots of babies. So what. How does this compare to talking about the size of a cock and volume of ejaculate? Maybe you can look at Exodus and tell me how to handle my slaves?
AND WHY IS THAT? You completely missed the point once again.LITERALLY NO ONE SAYS PLAYBOY SHOULD BE IN SCHOOLS LOL.
Why don't parents tell kids about the birds and the bees when they're 2? They're being intellectually dishonest with them then too, huh? Or maybe we wait until a child is mature enough and intelligent enough to understand the topic. Why do parents make rules about preventing boyfriends and girlfriends from sleeping over, or being in a bedroom with a door shut? It's almost like protecting kids and setting limits is something parents just do because they love them. Its absolutely dishonest. If kids cant handle the complete tome, then maybe its not for them to be exposed to? Isnt that your WHOLE ARGUMENT? lol
The fact you seriously and unironically wrote the last paragraph is why I don’t think this moves much further. You are literally undermining your own entire argumentI was raised in a Catholic home in a family that includes a bishop for an uncle, went to a private religious school with weekly mass, and we did deep dives into the Bible regularly in junior high. I'll be the first to say I'm not an expert on a 1,200 page book, but lets say I've read it quite a bit. I'm quite aware there are some sexual passages, but it's not nearly as explicit as what was detailed at those school boards. Again, it's almost always tongue in cheek or cleaned up.
I'm not stepping on new ground when I say children shouldn't be allowed to have something inappropriate for their age. Do we allow children to smoke? Do we allow children to drink? Do we allow children to go to R rated movies? Yes on the last one...if they're with a parent! Funny how that works.
Holy fuck...do you understand the purpose of an analogy? The joke is sanitized so Disney can allow it in their film. If the cartoon rabbit says "Rabbits like to fuck...a lot." do you think that flies? That's the difference between sexually explicit content and sanitized content. An adult will understand the later, a child will not. Sexually explicit has no hidden meaning, it's their with all the dirty intention and understanding.
AND WHY IS THAT? You completely missed the point once again.

No you are not. What you think about a piece of literature with sexual content is subjective. Fortunately there is a very real definition of what pornography is and these books conservatives are mad about it aint it. I figure you being the end all be all of human existence Mr. Libertarian would be ambivalent what a kid reads or their parents allow them to read cuz “muh freedom”Especially if it sexualizes children AMIRITE!
smh. ok. incoming.
Ezekiel 16:17
Translation: Smelted down gold and silver into dildos, then proceeded to use them in prostitution. You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.
Ezekiel 16:17
Ezekiel (Again) 23:20You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.
Translation: She wanted the dudes with big dicks and lots of cum. There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
Genesis 19:8
Translation: Yo dudes, don't fuck these other dudes, they're protected in my house, but hey, my daughters? Not protected at all, and virgins, huh? Do whatever to them, angry mob.Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."
Genesis 19:30-36 (Lot Part 2)
Translation: Lot's daughters got him drunk and took turns raping him, somehow getting lucky enough to get pregnant first try with a guy who didn't even know what was happening.30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children—as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”
33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
36 So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.
I could honestly go on, this is the most fun answer I've wrote in awhile.
Edit: As odd as it sounds, I've been asked to continue, let's see what else we've got stored away in the “Shit the Bible says" vault?
Dueteronmy 22:28-29
Translation: Hey, poor girl who just got raped? Yeah, you now have to be sold to your rapist, literally no choice, and you're stuck with him forever. (Hey, put that rock down, murder is a sin.)28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
Dueteronmy (Again) 25:11-12
Translation: If two dudes are fighting, and one of their wives comes to help, and she takes the easy way to end the fight by going for the balls, cut her fucking hand off, and don't even feel bad for her. (Does this count? Too funny not to include)If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity
Proverbs 5:19
Translation: I hope you always love your wife's tits. (Sorry ass guys, no love for you)A loving doe, a graceful deer-- may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
I Samuel 18:25
Translation: David, to marry Saul's daughter, go chop 100 dude's foreskins off, because that's what a good person such as you does. (I read a lot about David in Christian school, including this part, as a kid, because that's okay, isn't it?)Say to David, ‘The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.’
II Samuel 13:11-14
11 But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me, my sister 12 "No, my brother!" she said to him. "Don't force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don't do this wicked thing. 13 What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you." 14 But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.
Translation: Dude tries to coerce his sister into sex, she says no, offers to marry him (Because then they could?) but he's impatient so he rapes her, because he's stronger than her.
"And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD, wherefore he slew him also.”
"When Judah saw her, he thought her to be a harlot; because she had covered her face. And he turned to her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; for he knew not that she was his daughter-in-law."
"He shall lie all night between my breasts. ... His left hand under my head, and his right doth embrace me. ... Thy young breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies. . .. Come, blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. My beloved put his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him. Thy stature is like a palm tree, and thy breasts are clusters of grapes. I will go up the palm tree, and grasp the boughs. I am a wall, and my breasts are as
towers."

Explain how waiting till a child is mature and intelligent enough to understand a complex topic undermines my argument? Children are limited by parents and the government from a variety of different topics and actions including drugs, alcohol, pornography, violence and language in film, etc. Books aren't exempt, if parents don't want their children exposed to the material that's their call. The fact you seriously and unironically wrote the last paragraph is why I don’t think this moves much further. To be clear the translations and comments are not mine but I do agree with them lol.
The video was intentional. I specifically chose that video so maybe it might resonate with you that you can’t judge a book based o. Your own preconceptions and biases. The pastor is looking at the Bible the same way you should be looking at any book. 😂 You are literally skating right on the edge of it. You are so close but you’ll probably undermine your argument agin in your next post. I’m guessing this point is still escaping you. I can’t say it any more clearer. This was the best you could do? Brought to you by "Freedom from Religion." I see the Ezekiel passage comes up again, un-sanitized. It's funny that you would link that 28 minute video detailing the analyzation of God's wrath in Ezekiel, and the pastor explains that the Bible isn't meant to be taken a line at a time, yet this is nothing but a collection of snippets.
You've got excerpts from Deuteronomy detailing how to punish sexual deviants. That's like the entire book, Deuteronomy is pretty much nothing but laws about what not to do. My nethers truly stir when I read about women getting their hands cut off if they grab a dude's junk in defense of their husband.
You've got a line where God is condemning the Israelites for doing heinous actions with golden idols, certainly not glorifying their actions.
"Bring me 100 foreskins of my enemies." Oh damn, that's some hot shit!
Amnon rapes his sister (Actually half sister, they left that out) Tamar, and it's pointed out this was against Israel's commandments. He's then slain for his actions by his half-brother. I'm truly turned on now.
Probably the most sexually explicit excerpt you included was Lot's daughters getting him drunk and sleeping with him. I'm surprised Hustler didn't try to steal that one.
None of this is even half as graphic or detailed as what they're reading in the school board meetings. I can't believe I had to waste my time with this.
But ITS NOT YOUR RIGHT TO DENY MY CHILD OR ANY OTHER CHILD. LOL
If you don’t want your kid reading that book then don’t let them. Let other parents make their own decisions. Lol. WTH?
And stop with the pornography straw man. None of these books available to kids in schools are pornography. They are not pornography because they have artistic content and merits and have value to the community (re: definition of porn). You are free to not read any book you want and so is your child. There are tons of books that have sexual content and components that are classics including the Bible.
Reubens later stated that he was a collector of erotica, including films, muscle magazines, and a sizable collection of mostly homosexual vintage erotica,[2] such as photographic studies of teen nudes.[30] Reubens said that what the city attorney's office viewed as pornography he considered to be innocent art, and that what they described as people underage engaged in masturbation or oral copulation was, in fact, a judgmental point of view.
Isn't this whole thing about books that are part of a curriculum though? Or like are these schools announcing that they're carrying the "Gay Sex 101" book?Banning books is literally denying access. And you and your child are not obliged or forces to check them out! Lmao. Taking them out of school libraries is literally taking them away from a common place of obtaining books for school kids and for many kids it’s the few places to get free access to books. Lol. Ok. Have a good night. I gotta put my kid down for bed. I’m reading him Che Guevara’s biography. We are just about to get to 1959
Should they stock Hustler magazine?Banning books is literally denying access. And you and your child are not obliged or forces to check them out! Lmao. I attended Catholic schools until HS. Religion was a required class in every grade. It’s been a while but I sure don’t remember discussing the passages you mentioned.Elaborate please. Its not one sanitized line. There are hundreds of explicit and deviant passages in the Bible but that's ok for some reason and it will most definitely be found in most schools given a certain side's continued war to bring Jesus back into the schools. Is certainly being taught and is readily available in religous chools.
Right? I found them by reading the Bible. I had questions.I attended Catholic schools until HS. Religion was a required class in every grade. It’s been a while but I sure don’t remember discussing the passages you mentioned.
It’s a mixture really but book banning is occurring in schools libraries mostly. They are just flat out removing books that singular parents have objected to and you have the Moms for Liberty fascist group imposing their “standards” for “appropriate books” on local school boards now. It’s essentially religious books good woke books bad but defining what woke books are ultimately amounts to anything not Christian, nonhetero and not white is woke.Isn't this whole thing about books that are part of a curriculum though? Or like are these schools announcing that they're carrying the "Gay Sex 101" book?
Idk man, I don't have kids, but as someone who was a kid more recently than some here - what fucking kid is looking at books for porn lmao and which kid is like "yes the gay porn book, that's the one I'll oceans 11 out of the library so I can read it" without weighing the social risks of being caught with the book.
Ah, I thought it was part of the curriculum. It’s a mixture really but book banning is occurring in schools libraries mostly. Funnily enough it happened in UT because their language for sensitive materials was so broad as to include the Bible.Ah, I thought it was part of the curriculum.
You just know some pink hat is going to try and ban the bible from the library in a reactionary way. Then you have the cycle of "The Left wants the bible banned".

Of course you don’t find rape, dildos, genocide, slaughter of kids, slavery and underage sex graphic or disturbing. 👍
And of course you still don’t appear to get the point that what I allow my child to read isnt up to you or anyone else and that your personal feelings about a book (any book) are yours. Banning books from everyone because you don’t like it deservedly is worth fighting against. We get it. You don’t like some books for your own reasons. You don’t get to dictate what others have public access too.
🤷
Im moving on from your perfect circle of an argument but I do want to say that the Utah legislation didnt intend to ban the bible at all. The complaint arose becasue it was appealed in the same manner as other books were and they had to uphold it by their own letter of the law. The language was so broad to encapsulate as much woke literature as possible that in unintentionally and unequivocally included the bible when brought up. In any event the school district removed it and then just days later returned it, basically ignoring the rules the devised (lol). State lawmakers realized they messed up in the language and are fixing it to exclude the bible and book of Mormon and will try to take away the power of the school districts to do this again and keep that power for themselves. Much GOP. So Republican.Good lord, you're right! I should never generalize a piece of literature, that would be like criticizing a movie I've never seen about child sex trafficking! By the way, I picked up "What Girls Are Made Of" yesterday on Google Books so I can check it out fully, I don't think anyone critical of Sound of Freedom bothered to spend 2 hours to find out they were wrong about it.
You're equating snippets in the 1,200 page Bible to a book entirely about a teen's coming of age story where she discusses in great detail sex acts along with a lot of other stuff like detailing how euthanized dogs are boiled alive in some places. The two books are not the same, not even close.
I can't believe we're doing this...
graphic - "giving a vivid picture with explicit detail."
Where in any of that gobbledygook you posted was there graphic sexual material? Simply saying "may her breasts satisfy you always" in a Bible passage is not graphic nor detailed.
I'm only 20 pages into the book, but just 10 pages in the main character has already detailed a visit to the gyno where she's comparing the doctor's examination to her boyfriends lovemaking. Then the doctor says "You should look at your vulva and vagina regularly" to which Nina imagines the doctor at home drinking wine, rubbing her breasts, and taking vagina selfies. She then talks about how the doctor's touch isn't erotic, not like her boyfriend's. Then she talks about the press of her boyfriend's warm, hard penis in her vagina.
But yeah, this is the stuff you're advocating as appropriate for children. In those first 20 pages they've also detailed the first time she and Seth have had sex, the first time he went down on her, how her desire for Seth overpowers her, and the look on his face when he comes. Yeah, this is some real Mark Twain shit. "He pressed his tongue to my skin. My legs were shaking, so I sat down on the edge of the bed, and my legs fell open to make room for his mouth. He licked and licked like a cat at a bowl of cream, and when the inside of me felt as wet as the inside, we tried again. This time, Seth touched my face and looked into my eyes as he fit his penis up against me, as he pushed inside." First 20 pages!
That's just a wee bit more graphic than "and the younger daughter went in and slept with him."
Apparently it IS up to parents what children do and don't have access to. Did you forget these books have been banned in some school communities? Your kids are free to read whatever perverted material they want in your home. Some states like Utah even have laws that parents must be included when deciding what material is available to kids. In June Utah banned a book from some elementary schools and middle schools. Guess which one? It was the Bible: Utah district bans Bible in elementary and middle schools after complaint calls it "sex-ridden"
And you know what? That's the parents decision and there's nothing wrong with that. They're free to teach their kids from the Bible, or the Book of Mormon, or whatever they want in their own home.
Tom Emmer (MN.) is now reported to be the leading candidate for speaker. Trump is not a fan, so he probably won't get the votes.
This woman has a fake and incomplete education degree from a unaccredited school and got picked for Superintendent. Now she wants to allow the state to take control of the books. So on point.
