I don't have access, but the LA Times published an article this past week about Lincoln Riley publicly mulling early retirement/an easier lifestyle (NFL). I don't think he's going to be at USC that long. If you ask a lot of their fans, sounds like they're ok with that- a lot of people hate how soft the program is
A lot of these high level coaches hate the portal and the constant chase, I'm sure. One of these talking heads, can't remember who, suggested there will be multiple surprise retirements at the end of the year. I'll be surprised if Riley doesn't coach for another few years at $10M a year. He's still relatively young and that's hard to pass up. Saban, Dabo, Gundy, Ferentz and a few others are a better bet.

I wasn’t the only one, nor started the recommendation but I strongly agreed… if you watched the game it was pretty obvious
I criticized Morrison as well. Didn't call for his benching and I dont recall anyone else doing that either. He made big, repeated mistakes and it's not the first game of him doing that.

Some have the capacity to enjoy the moment to its fullest and realize this game was near perfect, while also giving a shit enough about where we need to improve because we want to have more of these experiences.

He just said it was him. More great takes from the dynamic duo.

If I remember correctly I think I stated and still agree with it, he needs to be pulled for a bit and let know this undisciplined play will not continue …he’s too good to just completely bench for good, but like I said earlier, we need better accountability

The Morrison takes are the wildest of the bunch to me. Guy is gonna make mistakes/commit some penalties… He’s always on an island against seemingly the opponent’s top receiver. The success of him and Cam are why ND was constantly able to bring 5 or 6 every down. The fact Marvin Harrison, Brendan Rice, et al have had nothing burger games against ND is because of Ben Mo. Sure, I wish he’d commit less penalties and clean up his tackling but that’s the price of having him in a single man coverage so often.

Agree other than rice had a td and some drops … Morrison didn’t dominate him

Penalties are one thing but sloppy face mask (again) and constant holding needs to be cleaned up

Yes he and hart are on islands a lot and why our pass D is so good, but he can’t be making the moronic penalties like he did yesterday, and he’s done that a few times this year

Hartman with 126 yards and most of them to Tyree still confuses the hell out of me. This USC D is weak, I'm still waiting for that balled out game....is it Hartman or Porker??
Bit of both I think. Will need to rewatch this game to look closely, but there were several plays (missing staes most obvious) where Sam missed the open man. Porkins called his best game since 3Q OSU tonight.

That being said I think the last few weeks have made sam feel like he needs to do too much and isn’t playing loose, not have great vision, not trusting the middle of the OL will hold up.

So while the playcalling was better last night, it was still largely very predictable and still Handicap Parking’s fault in part for not setting the team up for success over the course of the last several weeks.

Him committing the PI on that play actually saved points as well. Rice had him beat for 6 and they only ended up with a FG after the takedown. Sticky DBs are going to get flagged. All part of the game. Our DBs are a big part of why our DL has been successful this year. Damn good job last night

Are you talking about the 2nd, deep PI on him? Definitely didn't prevent points. Morrison had perfect help over the top, almost zero chance WR has a shot at that ball.

Postgame Thoughts:
1) Xavier. Watts.
2) Al Golden called his best game at ND yesterday.
3) Great to see Sam smiling again, kid loves ND (like Freeman). I wish we had him for next year.
4) I like Caleb Williams latest manicure, courtesy of ND's defense.
5) The gameday atmosphere was amazing- the crowd was loud (that threw Williams off multiple times), great to see Joe Montana there, the fireworks after the game, exciting for the recruits. This is how every gameday should be like.

Great win for this team, a much deserved bye week, let's go 4-0 the rest of the way.

Go Irish!!

Was there last night and the place was rocking. We and everyone around us stood the entire time.
First big game I’ve been to since 2017 USC and they’ve definitely amped up the atmosphere.

ND has done a great job with night games, the fireworks were new. My section also stood the entire time. I felt the crowd was louder last night than they were vs. Clemson last season & OSU.

For real? I felt like OSU was pretty loud, felt close to '05 USC.

Great idea by Freeman to have the committed recruits walking behind the players walk to the stadium; they also did that vs. Clemson last season.
