I know everyone is super upset about the last three weeks and want to see BIG changes made, but it's a waste of energy to continue to harp on it. Marcus Freeman isn't going anywhere this off season. It's just not gonna happen.
I feel like this is what all sports boil down to.
I frankly don't understand why people continue to watch games, pay for websites and post on message boards devoting time and money to something that doesn't seem to make them happy. Just walk away from it for a while, maybe? Every piece of Chicago White Sox clothing I own is in a bin down in our basement. There comes a point where you maybe have to say "enough." For your own sake?
My assessment of Marcus Freeman to this point is that I think he has the right ideas, but he's made some very public mistakes that have been big failures for all the world to see. Trying to hire Ludwig made sense. Taking Ludwig to the hockey game in plain sight for all to see before anything was final was a huge mistake. The wins against Clemson, South Carolina, Duke were huge. The losses are far more well documented and two are still very fresh in our minds. We know his heart is in the right place because he projects to feel what we all feel about ND, which we haven't had in an HC for a long time, but he's got to get his brain and balls in the right place too. That might mean making very tough decisions that upset assistant coaches and players. Not everyone is going to like you as the top guy, and that's okay.
They have a shot to get a dub Saturday night against an unbeaten archrival with the returning Heisman winner at QB, but it's going to take collective effort from all four phases to be far better than they have been the last three weeks. Hopefully the crowd don't boo and act like twats if things start out shaky. There are going to be recruits at the game.
Get the win and go into the bye week with good vibes.
