Just getting a chance to listen to the PC from yesterday. Did Freeman bump his head? When have we ever played fast? Our Tempo is slow, our running plays are slow developing, and our plays are just not fast unless we are playing TSU.
It's also unreal we have an experienced oline, and as experienced a QB as you can get yet we don't run tempo unless absolute must. We let the D take their time and set up vs whatever obvious tell parker is going to create. Please use our experience to our advantage, please.

Or when we do have a huge play, we never capitalize when the defense is on its heels. Ball control offense is a good idea, until you can't convert ever on 3rd down and have to give up the damn ball.

We had a 3rd and about 2 inches on a play vs louisville and hartman wanted to just run a sneak, but there was a crap ton of window dressing for a 3 inch sneak, and then fisher false started, parker calls a jet sweet for no reason, and ND punts. Little simple stuff like that is how you lose games, we all know it because it doesn't happen once in a game or once every so often, it happens multiple times per game. It's why our offense is still getting yards "ok" but not getting points. The talent is there, the coaching isn't.

i don't have that feeling. popular opinion was that the OL would play pissed off vs duke and the offense didn't put a single drive together until the very last drive of the game. at this point of the season you are who you are and ND has an OL that just isn't as good.
I always felt there was going to be a letdown after OSU. The middle of the line is a weakness, but they have shown they can play with physicality like they did against OSU. This is more about play calling and making it easier for the line. Let's hope Parker turns to page 2 of the playbook this week.

Some of the cracks we saw in the CMU game ended up being real.

I don't think this Ohio State team is one of the better ones we've seen in recent years and should they get piss pounded by Penn State and Michigan, that's going to tell us a lot about what a missed opportunity that game was. Either way, you played three games in a row in prime time with the last two on the road at basketball schools with newer head coaches who hyped ND coming to town as the biggest thing ever. For Duke and Louisville, it probably was. Now ND has dig back into the tank again for another prime time game and it's their rival.

Freeman lost his first three games as head coach, so he's had to pivot once already. My hope is that he can do it again and that it would start with a win against USC at home. If this doesn't go well, that crowd will turn on these kids quick and the season could spiral down fast. I really don't care about optics. Just get the win somehow and go forward.

With the weather being completely awful, I wonder how much the crowd will even play a part in this game.

I have next to no faith in the offense right now. And unfortunately Freeman won’t do anything about it. Parker seems to be very truthful but when he speaks I have no confidence in anything he says.

This game is probably going to be as ugly as the weather.

I agree with you on Ohio State not being as good as say even last year. It's why this year was set up to make a really good run and have a national championship chance.

Where I disagree is I don't think Penn State or Michigan will crush them this year because I don't think they're so great either. I think OSU has a fair shot to beat either of them. I don't see any dominant teams this year, unless Georgia's QB keeps playing like he did vs Kentucky.

After Freeman lost his first 3 games, we followed that up with an absolute dud and almost lost to a terrible Cal team that went 3-9 last year. We were actually losing that game going into the fourth quarter. The first game we played good last year, especially offensively was at UNC, but our D had a few mental lapses to let them score a bunch.

This just looks silly. USC has a staff member spraying water on players with a portable pressure sprayer as they attempt to simulate rain in South Bend on Saturday.

1943, 1957, 1990, 1992, 2000, 2023.

ND will face a ranked team four games in a row for the first time in 23 years and sixth time ever.

4-0, 1-3, 2-2, 4-0, 2-2 respectively.

Hopefully ND can establish the run game b/c I don’t see Hartman getting flushed and good things happening.

As Arizona’s OL better than ND’s OL? Amazing what happens when the offense runs the ball when #s are in their favor.

Arizona only rushed 3 most of the game. They dropped 7 in coverage and had one LB.

SC’s front four is legit when it comes to rushing the passer. The run game is clearly their weak point. But we thought that last year didn’t we? How’d that work out?

ND better take advantage of that sieve of an SC defense b/c if Aranda gets canned at Baylor after the season, he’ll be SC bound as their next DC

I like AZ's OC who has also been Run Game Coordinator.

Looks like the threat of the QB running helped open up the run game as well.

USC’s inside backer got trucked a couple times in those clips above.

I've seen one USC half but it was enough to realize #90 may destroy our interior. #1 and their RB #0 were also super impressive. Based on limited viewing I'd still be surprised if #90 isn't the best interior DL we face all year.

All props and respect to Estime, but I want to see Love unleashed in this game now more than ever.
Agree I think Love is gonna be a first round draft pick in 2 years you mise well get as many carries out of him he has 1200 yard potential next year. But they need to get Price more involved too

Bear Alexander epitomizes the USC defense.

He's explosive, he's talented. He's also lazy and woefully inconsistent.

He has the capability to make big plays, he also has the capability to get whooped and give up big plays.

There's a reason why USC has struggled to stop the run against pretty much everybody, including bad teams.

But that said, it's not like the IOL is the pinnacle of consistency.

That's what really irritates me about this matchup. USC's defense is laughably undisciplined and just based on what I've seen the last 2 weeks, ND is not in any position to make a team pay for their lack of discipline. When your play calling is this predictable, it means that the defense doesn't have to think as much, thus there's less potential for disciplinary lapses.

Correct. He’s pretty much been a bull rusher which ND’s IOL struggles w/. Keep Schrauth on the sidelines for this one or he’ll be on the losing end of a pancake more times than not.

USC defense will probably be up for this game and perform better than expected. Our O and D better do likewise.
There’s no question. EVERY time we hear how poor an opponent’s defense is, they rise up and shut ND down w/ movement & confusion. The OC does them no favors so maybe he’ll pull a Costanza and do the opposite of whatever he normally would call.

It's definitely technique with him because he absolutely throttled a few DL from louisville, but when he was off, like you saw, he got bull rushed into a sack.

He's probably our most physically gifted IOL, but not consistent enough yet. Wish ND had let him try to get consistent vs say Navy, TSU, etc

Spot on. That’s when he should’ve seen game reps. He did flash some greatness on a lot of plays vs UL but he’s too damn tall in his stance and UL were doing a great job of getting low. He should have a bright future but he’s not quite ready for the toughest opponents quite yet. Question is “does Rudolph & co Realize that?”

Is there some sort of hype video out there for this game? I can't recall being this meh heading into freaking USC week, especially with an opportunity to take Caleb Williams down a peg.

It’s midterms so maybe the person doing the hype video is barricaded in their dorm studying.
