Next year might be the perfect year to take a new OC. We're going to be reloading at a lot of positions with guys that have little or no experience. New inexperienced QB likely (Unless we take another transfer, hopefully Minchey or Angeli is ready though), new Tackles, new starting RB, new Center, and at least one WR. The next OC can implement his own system without disrupting much since the new starters likely won't have quite so many reps in the old one.

Parker wishes he was Tommy. Parker woke up on 3rd with Hartman gifted to him and he got thrown out by the pitcher in back to back games. He was handed the golden ticket with an experienced offense full of talent.
Saban isn't going to come calling for Gerad.
If Savvy Jack opened up his wallet for Utah OC are we Undefeated and in conversation oh CFP?

Methinks so.

Not defending Parker per se, but friendly reminder that with the WR injuries (and late scratch for Greathouse)I genuinely think a significant portion of the playbook wasn't available with the patched worked players he had.

Yes, also responsible for having everyone ready, but sprinkling in some context.
Yeah the WR getting hurt on Thursday is a bad hand.

And Duke has terrific defensive head coach.

Shit play calls. But I don't fire a guy for one game being crap.

No, but just like the Ohio State game, Notre Dame left so many unaccounted for points out there. At half, that score should have been 24 or 31-0. It’s just disappointing. Mistakes, questionable play calling, questionable substitutions…Hartman needed to bail you out on a 4th and 16…look, they are a sound defensive football team (Duke), but make no mistake about it, they aren’t 1992 Alabama, 2011 LSU, or 2011 Alabama.

With the talent ND has, this shit is just disappointing.

I have a similar concern. The defense, for all the missed tackles and missed assignments, has given up 15.5 ppg the last two weeks.

The offense needs to be better. I know the officiating has been suspect at key times but wtf

As a LSU fan in the BK era, I know you know disappointing. But unlike LSU, ND got the win. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Don't forget positions at WR too. As freshman, not like they can plug and play at any WR spot.

We were down 3 of our top receivers. Elko knew we were one dimensional and sold out against the run and brought heat in obvious passing downs. Sam did what was necessary and went to the TE often. We got the win over a top 20 team on the road. Definitely needed 6 after the Watts interception but they survived when seriously limited. A win is a win.

Filing this Tweet away for if Gerardo lays a couple more eggs.

You think there is any accountability on this staff? Just strap in and hope for the best. There will be no broken headsets, purple faces or personnel changes. MF and Savvy Jack are true Gentlemen perfect for coaching a Tennis team but happen to be involved in Football.

I'm convinced Parker had little to do with that last drive, it just felt like Sam put the team on his back there and made the call. Hartman obviously called his own number on the 4th and 16, big balls on that one.

If this is the case mad props to Sam and I forgive him for the some of his first half bad decisions.

If true Parker should probably find a moving company that will be available in December.

Again this week isn’t about Duke. They are a good team but not much better than that. Our Dozen opportunities that we were unsuccessful at is the big story line yet again this week.

I feel like it's pretty unusual to fire/demote a coordinator midseason. You're not going to overhaul your offensive systems in Week Five. Maybe you take away playcalling duties of an OC but IDK who on this staff you'd even give them to. Rudolph? Gino?

Apparently it’s a thing we’re doing now.

I’d like to see them get Hartman more involved in running
At least they need to shift/slide the pocket and have more outside run plays….Parker has nd handing the ball off and throwing it from the same spot behind the line every play it seems

Just like teams firing HCs midseason, i think some teams are trying to get ahead of the carousel by firing coordinators so they will get early attention and maybe get a jump on the good ones. I mean, we dumped BVG pretty early in 2016 and that worked out really well with Elko.

What he’s saying is ridiculous. Parker will likely be fine. Sam had an off game against OSU, as he played tentative in second half. Parker has had one subpar game and that was while having 3 of his best WRs out against a very good defense. Too many arm chair QBs on this and other ND fan sites. If there are multiple bad games with a healthy roster, then maybe there are discussions to be had. Until then, give the ND coaches bash a rest. It is one thing to question a few calls here and there or strategy but calling for replacements?? Sound like a bunch of petulant 16 year olds and/or their know it all and mouthing dads in the stands.

We dumped BVG, because we were 1-3 and the defense was among the worst in CFB. And that was in year 3. Keep in mind, the three teams ND lost to during that stretch, they gave up 50 to Texas (5-7), 36 to Michigan State (3-9) and 38 to Duke (4-8). They gave up 500 yards of total offense in each of those 3 losses.

Despite a dud performance against Duke, this offense is far from one of the worst in CFB. This is year 1 for Parker.

Too many people are looking at just the Duke game to judge Parker and they'd be fools to do so. Parker's tendencies are super obvious at this point and good defenses are making it harder and harder for ND to move the ball. The lack of explosives, the lack of play-action, the lack of adaptation, the lack of getting guys out in space....these aren't results of one game. The criticism towards Parker is extremely warranted and he needs to get his shit together. The defense can only do so much and clearly ND doesn't have a consistent answer for FG kicking.

Yeah Parker is not BVG, at all. That dude nearly cratered the entire program. Parker just needs to get a little more creative in his playcalling.
