Actually, Elko's decision to only rush 3 on 4th and 16 was even more egregious, and probably was the key decision that cost them the win.

Duke knows the Irish WRs suck. You have to find other ways to get the ball outside. Running Estime smack into run blitzes ain't it. No middle screens in the playback? Can't drag WRs into the vacated space? A fucking slant route once or twice? Jet sweeps? Pitches? Flare the RB out?

I saw none of that.

Also before the last drive, ND WRs had 3 receptions for 32 yards. Yikes.

Considering the WR options, our pass game playcalling was not at all creative. No screens or wheel routes to RBs or anything. All the stuff we did to slice up NC State when they sold out the run was not present tonight. Thank God for Mitchell Evans. And Tobias Merriweather is just Not Good At Wide Receivering.

Either Duke has the best rush D in the nation or this OL is not as good as I thought they were.

Marist Liafau cannot tackle. He seems to try to take everyone up high so if he doesn’t have leverage, he rarely takes him to the ground. Way too many missed tackles for an LB. He tackles like a corner.

WTF w/ all the false starts & offsides penalties? This isn‘t the opener for Pete’s sake.

I’m starting to think Tobias is just a good straight line runner w/ lots to learn beyond that. He’s been unimpressive & it showed tonight when he was counted on.

I know Hartman can throw a back shoulder. Are any of the WR capable of catching one?

Chris Tyree WTH were you thinking. Thank God ND recovered but I remember watching that in real time thinking “that crazy MF is gonna try to field it & it’s not going to end well”.

Why is ND’s defense always so complicated that it requires average LB to start b/c they’re the only ones smart enough to call the keys?

Swarbrick has got to address the officiating. How come the punt can be reviewed when it bounces over the pylon when ND kicks it but when the opposition does the exact same thing, it’s not reviewable and then ND gets flagged for delay of game?!?

Does anyone think Schrader makes that kick if Estime doesn’t house that play? I’m thinking 50/50.

Top to bottom, I just don't believe Duke has the same level of players as ND, but admittedly, Duke is a very well coached team.

I just wanted ND to come out on a mission and obliterate them. That said, they got the win, great. Move on to Louisville.

Middle of the line played awful this game. Elko saw it and brought pressure knowing we had no one who could win one on one in the second half. It's hard to hate on Parker when your line is playing terrible and all your receivers are hurt. Defense played well. Cross and mills outstanding game

On the subject of refs: Am I totally blind or was the ball on the picked up flag clearly catchable? I understand Tobias didn't do a great job fighting back through the CB (AGAIN), but it bounced within five yards of Tobias for shits sake.

I feel like Freeman needs to let Parker open up the offense more. I know he wants to run a power offense mentality, but the last two weeks it's just not been working.
