See this is a shame that we can’t have our moment because of past results. There’s no confidence in this team because of the past 12 years. It’s a shame. If not now then when? Support blindly, hope with all you have. We will win this because there’s a coach that gives a dam. It’s time we prove the naysayers wrong.

So sick of the negativity that comes with supporting this team. In truth, most of the Americas should be supporting this team because of their heritage. ND is, Americas team. I think MF fully understands that. Win or lose Saturday night, we are better than we’ve been the last decade.

This feels like the buildup to every crushing ND loss I’ve ever experienced. That said I’m ready to get hurt again

See? I disagree with this. It doesn't feel anything like the other crushing losses.

I never saw em coming. Miami? Boy I thought we'd shit kick em. Marshall? Stanford? All the other what the hell soul crushing loss in the past 15 years? Never saw them coming.

Be honest with yourself... you saw every playoff appearance coming. You saw Clemson II coming. You saw every game we were moderate to big dogs as losses.

I have real hope for this one. I care way too much about this shit. It's really dumb how much a college team consumes me.

This one will hurt bad if they get boat raced.

I’m ready for the disappointment: 31- 20 Bucks. Close for 3 qtrs, then their speed takes over.

Alright, here we go. I've given this one a lot of thought.

Offensively, Notre Dame is light years ahead of where they were last year in Columbus. They are better at QB, RB, OL, and WR. They finally have the upper hand at the QB position in a top 10 matchup. I'll be very interested to see how Knowles and OSU defends the Irish. If they get aggressive and stack the box, I think Parker will counter that with screens and throws to the RBs and TEs. I think our OL is going to be aggressive AF and try to be tone setters. I'd love to see Estime wear down that defense in the 2nd half.

Defensively, don't let them get the running game going. Commit to stopping the run. If they get a running game going, it will make McCord's job much easier. If they stop the run, that'll force McCord into having to make decisions against a strong secondary and I will like our chances. Wouldn't be surprised if they have multiple picks on Saturday. I'm looking for strong game from Liudau, Bertrand, JJB, and Burnham.

I really like the direction Marcus Freeman has this program going. This team has every right to believe they will win on Saturday. I think Notre Dame comes out uber physical in the trenches, and that'll be the difference.

Notre Dame: 34
Ohio State: 24

Taking turnovers out of the equation, this game will ultimately come down to Notre Dame’s defense — particularly the front seven. They don’t have to go out there and replicate the 1992 Alabama or 2011 Alabama defense, but they’ve got to make plays and have some sort of impact. Commit to slowing down their running game — face facts, Mills, Kiser, Bertrand, and such aren’t stuffing it. Slow it down
and limit it. When you get them in 3rd and long positions, you’ve got to keep their conversion rate low. They’ll get their passing yards, but it ultimately plays into ND’s strengths — the DBs. I’m not too sure McCord is Stroud, Haskins, Fields, etc either. Make them as one dimensional as possible, and put pressure on him, an inexperienced QB, to beat you with his arm, on the road and in a hostile environment. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t? I’m putting the pressure on him to do it though.

Offensively, you’ve got to have a notable impact in the running game. It eats the clock and keeps Ohio State’s offense (and your defense) on the sideline. Control the ball and clock. Limit three and outs, run the ball effectively while also letting Hartman distribute it around. Be balanced. Make them defend the rush and the pass. Make them defend the entire field. More importantly, be aggressive. Commit to winning this game. Don’t get conservative and don’t be afraid to push the ball down the field.

Shrader’s leg may be the difference maker.

ND - 34🍀
Ohio State - 30

I like this version of IrishDrunk, let him stick around for a while!
I mean how can any ND Fan not believe this is THE GAME. We have a HC that everyone loves. Its whether he can win a big one. He won one has year by trouncing Clemson. We now have the best QB in arguably decades. I have my heart - which makes my mind think its really possible to run these guys out of ND Stadium. Not just beat them. And as a fan why think otherwise?

Joel Klatt's take was spot on - for both programs this is a very important game.

You my friend do not know what a good egg means?

Of course. It was a misplaced, "Nah"

One of those things that if you heard me say it IRL, you'd be like... Yah... I agree.

Mistake on my part that I do often and I'm trying to stop. Posting in spoken language.

A) OSU is going to come out running the ball. On the flip side ND comes out throwing

How often does Day commit to the run early in a game? I don't watch them routinely but when I do they seem impatient on offense and want to air it out. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't really know what to expect with our defense or OSU offense.

I expect the focus of OSU defense will be too attack the interior of our oline. It's our weakness, pressure up the middle is the best way to slow down any QB and the only way to slow estime down, and their 3 tech, #51 I believe, absolutely killed us last year. We couldn't block him and he consistently made plays to kill drives.

We need the center and guards to step up and have a big day and we need the offensive staff to put together a game plan that makes them pay when they blitz up the gut. If the doesn't happen we won't score enough to win.

If they can give Hartman enough room to make some throws we'll win.

They could roll the pocket left or right to protect the interior

Take it FWIW, Desmond Howard just said the most important factor to the game is to “establish the run and stop the run.”

Completely agree. That’s what I said earlier. The team that does this the best will win.

I’m sticking with 34-30 —Good guys. 🍀

Pretty much the game plan for every game.

Certainly can but that alone won't be enough. It'll have to be a combination of things. Changing up the snap count, changing up the blocking schemes, screens etc. They just have to get creative and keep them guessing. What's the count, are they trapping, are they wham blocking, are they rolling out of pocket. I'm not trying to be overly critical of our guards and center but I don't think they'll be able to contain their interior without some help.
