For the exact reason you left out of the quote.
Errrkay. Question stands - how is something not ideal preferable? If the goal is to play well, why would you want anything but? Make zero sense. Hartman isn't a greenhorn, he doesn't need adversity to grow. He's grown.

I'm not begging anyone to agree but I've made my reason clear. I'm nitpicking an ideal scenario where they still come out and crush in the end. If it plays out your way I'd be very happy with that too, I just think there's something to a team having to respond.

And I'm asking you to explain how it's preferable. Seems to me you're simply an agent of chaos. I believe message board have another term for that...

Dude I've over explained it at this point, lol.

Very weird to equate this to trolling. Just like noticing JD/LBs/Merriweather was "trolling" before it became widely accepted.

Some ppl try too hard to start a fight.

You stated what you wanted to see. Now explain how that's better than ND offense coming out hot and performing that was the whole game. Hartman has led them to what? 11 TDs in 1st 12 series. Why do you want to see that end? I'll wait...

I'm going to stop here because I'm not sure you're serious. Read above.

I am serious. You want ND to fail bEcUaSE aDvErSiTY. But again, Hartman is 24. He doesn't require that at this stage of his career. So again, why do you want to see him throw an INT that leads to ND trailing in a road game against a non-walkover ACC opponent? I mean other than you being sensationalistic.

Your reasoning fuckin lost me! I hope that Hartman completes every pass and RB’s each ave. 5 yds per carry and ND wins 52-0, but I doubt that it happens.

I completely agree. It’s probably wishful thinking, but I wonder if there was some defensive masking going on with the DL. There’s been criticism as to why we weren’t able to generate more sacks on TSU’s QB. My hope is that there was some pull back given the competition. We talk about offenses hiding strategy, but what about defense? My hope is that the DBs are looking to finally eat with the front 7 really coming to life against actual competition.
I think Bothelo and Jean Claude Baptiste are looking to impress the NFL too much for that to be right.

ND doesn't fail if they go down 7-0 and win 42-17. I never said how Hartman responds, I said how "our team" responds.

You're making stuff up.

I'd rather see them have some short lived adversity, overcome it, and then proceed to put their foot on the throat. I don't want the teams first "oh shit" moment on Sept 22nd.
If they have 2 minutes of adversity you will be demanding everyone be fired and insulting their mothers.

I just want to won. 24-23 sounds great. Not sexy, but just want a chance at OSU undefeated. Assuming we beat CMU.

I don’t particularly agree with Lberry on this one, but I get his point. He wants the team to face some adversity prior to the games they’re sure to encounter some, so they have the experience when it really matters. It’s the same reason we want to see backups get into games with comfortable leads before they have to sub in for an injured starter at a key moment. That being said, I’ll vote for Irish dominance starting with the opening kickoff.

If that's the case, I hope NC State blitzes up the middle a lot and we get it figured out, cause we really struggled with pressure in the middle of the line last year against the Buckeyes.

I really hope to see significantly more effort on special teams this week. Especially the kick off return and coverage units. It was pretty embarrassing saturday.

Firmly locked on in this game and only this game. If they come out and take care of business it could be close to what we've seen already.

Everybody else can wait until the time comes. Piss pound these jokers and move onto the next one.

Regression was anticipated but still pisses me off.
agree. see below. At the 22:40 mark, did we even attempt to block anyone on the return. There's 5 TS players smashing ford and all of NDs players are just standing around. at 10:50 and 34:50 we boom a kick into the endzone and our players are loafing. They aren't even in the screen until late. A few jog to the end zone but the majority stop. This is pathetic and tells me all i need to know about what type of special teams effort Biagi is requiring. If you watch the best special teams, they are sprinting until the end zone, everyone!! Letting the other team know they better not even try to return it.

At the 50:40 mark, we have a terrible kick. Some of our coverage unit is slow to get down there and not ready to tackle. They attempt a bunch of soft arm tackles, miss, and the guy takes it for a huge gain. Sneed and henderson hustle but completely have no clue what they're doing and over run play on a simple cut. Ausbery, JR, Lewis try soft arm tackles, and then he's gone. A great ST coach would have seen the lack of effort the prior two kick offs and kicked that in the butt. You have one frichan job man, do it!

Sure. But we have some idea of what we have and so do they. We appear to have a balanced and dynamic offense, with some questions on D, particularly the front seven. They in recent years have tended to be stout on D, but pretty meh on offense. (last year they were 12th in the nation in points given up, but 94th in points scored. They didn't top 30 points against a P5 opponent.)

Given that history it feels unlikely they win a shootout. But they could certainly win a low-scoring game if we don't execute when we have the ball. Is all I'm saying.
I'm not disagreeing with you, just finding a way to say things differently. Our OL has me concerned, they gave up multiple stuffs/neg running plays to a ~200 ranked FCS team. That should not happen for a very good OL. This will be much stiffer competition.

The good news for ND is that we have serious ability at all three levels of the defense and we have talent at all offensive positions so even if one or two groups are lagging, the others can make up for it with dominant play. Our RBs can get stuffed a few times and still average monster numbers by ripping off big runs.

Special Teams is the biggest question mark for me and that will matter multiple times this year. If we play just a good game (not great) and avoid multiple turnovers, I'd expect a 12+ pt victory.

Different game every week. Maybe they’ve had their eyes on next week? I’m not saying they’re great, but I expect they will play much better against our lads.
Freeman mentioned in his presser that NC State has won 17/18 in Raleigh, but defense and running game always travel well. just stick to the same mold offensively; if we can get the running game going early and often like UConn did against that defense, Hartman will pick them apart with the PA game.

Hopefully we don't get off to a sleepy start on the road.

Hopefully if the game is played in heavy rain or a hurricane, the coaching staff decides against throwing it 75 times.

Presser Q ref Hartman having a rough time with NC State. Looked it up-he had 3 picks against the Wolfpack in both 2022 & 2021.

An opportunity for redemption!

My hope here is that Parker and Golden haven't shown very much these first two weeks because they haven't had to, and from what I've gathered I don't think they have. I watched the Navy game live and over again. Haven't seen TSU over again yet but from what I can gather they haven't done a great deal deep into the playbook just yet. I could be totally wrong.

Hartman was horrible against NC State last year. Three picks. If it wasn't his worst game of the season, it was awfully close. Maybe the following week against Louisville was worse.

So you’ve never seen an ND opponent play down to a lesser opponent giving the fan base false sense of dominance before they make it a nail biter or upset the Irish outright? I still don’t get fans judging a team on one game whether it was good, bad or indifferent.
I expect a more focused NCS team than what played UConn. Especially since they are at home.

I think the noon kick off helps us. Id be more worried if this was a night game.
Agree. Those students won't be rolling out of bed until 11:00 - 11:30 and many will be feeling the effects of Friday night partying.

Shouldn't have to show too much this week either run the ball down their thoats, get Price and Love involved with Jet sweeps and Screens call it a day
