Reaper that’s a lot of creativity and what-ifs. Man you write a lot.I’m going to explain this to you REALLY SLOWLY…
Announcing & committing aren’t the same thing.
Silent commit & committing aren’t the same thing.
Notre Dame can’t legally say anything about a kid who isn’t signed.
A kid doesn’t have to announce.
A silent is when a kid tells a school he is coming but doesn’t want anybody to know.
A commitment is a kid just committing. If that kid doesn’t want to announce, nobody will know.
The only way we ever know is if a kid announces, not if he just commits.
So if Lambert doesn’t put out an announcement, we will never know until he signs.
That’s his right & his choice.
So Lambert, being somebody who doesn’t like attention, (and this has happened recently with another ND commit), calls ND and says he will sign with them & his recruitment is over.
He then calls the other schools & says he is not signing with them & his recruitment is closed.
Those other coaches can’t publicly say anything either. The only indication would be their sites leaking it with ND predictions.
Nobody is “closed” until they sign. You take each kid at his word.
A public announcement doesn’t mean anything more than a commitment.
Let me put out this 100% hypothetical, that nobody told me, I’m making this up on my own, no inside knowledge, it didn’t happen, but what if…
Let’s just pretend, for fun of course, Lambert doesn’t want attention, is sick of the process, called the ND staff & committed. Then called the other coaches & told them thank you but no. Lambert doesn’t announce because he doesn’t do social media and doesn’t care. Everyone at the ND & other teams’ sites know, but aren’t able to say anything about it & ND and other teams can’t legally say anything about it.
Man, wouldn’t that be crazy? A kid commits to a team with no announcement, kind of like the way it was from 1880-2000?
I am comfortable with my belief that most Silent Commits are about as useful as a fart in the wind. Here is no different.
